quot; thank God coz i would now be crying. I got an opportunity to return immeadiately and I did not have a car then. People advised me to buy a car and have it backdated to a year plus to avoid duty but I new better. A pal did the same thing and to date 8 months down the line, his car is still stuck at the port attracting demurrage etc.
The cost of the A6 is certainly as I expected, although I definitely want a diesel, would duty on the diesel be higher or lower.
True dat! I know a few people who have tried to pull the move... which backfired then... paid bribes...paid fines... paid storage... then paid duty.
Now if that does not lead to heart failure, then I dont know what does.
KRA are in contact with
DVLA and will get details of when the logbook was produced.
I have known KRA to contact garages shown on the stamps of the Service History book to check who actually paid for the service. The British by nature are so happy to help with such info.
The backdating is still done... but your story has to be watertight. I for one, wouldn't bother.
Duty on the
A6 diesel will not be far off the petrol version.
As KRA dont have the figures for the diesel version, they tend go give duty figures for the nearest petrol version esp. engine size. & if it falls between two figures, as usual KRA will go for the higher figure.
For example I am sending in a
LR Discovery III 4.4L V8 SE.
On the KRA list it does not exist. But it falls between the 4.0 SE (ksh8m) and 4.4 HSE (ksh11m).
Now you can guess which figure they chose to caculate duty.
I expect to pay ksh2.33m rather than 1.95m.
As Oyster said above 'Check before you Buy'. Contact an agent or KRA.
