There is a lot of revisionist history and lies about the 1982 coup.

Back in 1982 RAO and several other lecturers from UoN such as Ali mazrui, Maina wa Kinyatti, Otieno Mak Onyango etc were detained and charged with treason. But the charges were dropped for lack of evidence. Only Maina wa Kinyatti was ever charged.

However RAO was detained for 8 years without charges. I suppose you think this is appropriate.

Why would Moi drop treason charges if the lecturers were directly involved ?
Dozens of UoN students were also arrested and accused of being involved including Musalia Mudavadi, his current aide Kibisu Kabatesi, governor Isaac Ruto, MP Shem Ochuodho, Wachira Waruru and a former mean Machine legend. I believe only Adungosi was ever charged though falsely.

It is indeed true that most of these lecturers and students supported the coup. I do not blame them. If I was them I would support the coup too. At the time, there was no democratic space in Kenya. You could not criticize the govt. If you did you would be detained without trial. It was like living in a gas chamber. People take this for granted now. But at the time, many felt that a coup was the only option.

But the lies and revisionist history of late makes it look like RAO was the brains behind the coup. This is laughable.

If you look at how poorly the coup was executed you immediately realize it was the work of a few air force junior privates. These people thought that taking over broadcasting house amounted to a coup.

Also Moi knew about the coup plot months in advance but he let it happen because he wanted to use it as an opportunity to crack down on dissidents and remove powerful politicians like Njonjo.

Moi knew because the coup plotters were actually going around Eastleigh airbase recruiting conspirators.

What was he doing with the lecturers since we know he was NEVER one?

This shows how many lies are out there about RAO. Yes he was a lecturer at UoN for 4 years. Even after he left, he maintained contacts with the staff at UoN. That was back when UoN was a major cog of underground opposition politics. Thats why Moi really wanted to crack down on students and lecturers. Thats why Moi allowed the coup to happen.

Who did he teach? Or who taught with him? The guy was working as a hand man in the university a job his father helped to get him. Before the went to KBS. Those who went to school in the 70s are still alive

I am not going to spend time telling anyone what RAO studied or whom he taught. If you want to find out what RAO studied and what he taught, you can find it easily.

You can educate yourself by reading reliable websites instead of silly facebook posts that drive the kind of ignorance you see on this site.

One thing I can tell you is that in the 1960s, there was an acute shortage of graduates in Kenya and degrees from Eastern Europe were highly valued because the Eastern Bloc countries were seen as technologically advanced. A person coming from the Eastern Bloc with a technical degree had job offers coming out of his ears.

One of my uncles came back from studies in Russia in 1969. By 1974 he was a managing director at one of the major firms of the time.

The Kizungumkuti of all this is because no one has ever claimed to have taught or have been taught by him. Your uncles reference in this matter is irrelevant no one cares about him. With the clout that Raila has, multitudes would be bragging to have taught with or have been taught by him...that is one #Deadgiveaway...

Why would RAO brag about being a lecturer? He does not even discuss the businesses he has been running since the 1970s?

Barrack Obama was also a lecturer. Have you seen any multitudes bragging about being taught by him. So was George Saitoti. You seem to be rather shallow. Why would anyone brag about being lectured by someone?

Your line of reasoning is even more shallow. BTW RAO was a UoN lecturer. A basic google search will tell you this. Since it appears you do not know how to use google, I will post one website for you that confirms this

Here is the UON page http://mathematics.uonbi.ac.ke/node/2 and here is the Uni of Chicago page on Barack http://www.law.uchicago.edu/media

Who is the shallow one to believe a page such as softkenya. I can give you my webpage i need hits.
