Dinara Developers Ltd.

I saw an advert in the Daily Nation yesterday posted by these guys. According to the advert, they are located at Oak Plaza Thika.

They [according to the advert] are selling one bedroom and two bedroom apartments in Makongeni behind Shell petrol stations. A two bedroom apartment is going for 1.6 Million.

One: Anyone who has dealt with them before? Are they the real deal or just part of the Land & Property Fraud Inc.

Two: How much are rents in that area of Makongeni. The idea is to rent out the apartment after buying it and I want to see if it makes economic sense.

Of course I will do proper due diligence [depending on the information/advice I get here] but it helps to get the preliminary analysis before.

checked their site here

to join in , did you have to part with 50k as described above?

There is very little /non existent info on the directors from the website.

Thanks for @a4architect. Always value your input on matters real estate. By the way I saw a sign in Karen for a4architect. Are you based in Karen?

Back to the matter at hand.

No I haven't parted with the money. Didn't even know about the 50k until you posted the link.

I must say the 50k issues makes this guys look fishy!!!

Ati to benefit you need to be a member.

To become a member you need ID, Pin Certificate and Kshs. 50,000/=

The advert didn't mention anything about membership. Just houses for sale. This smells like a con job meant to collect as many 50k's from Kenyans as possible!!! But it could also be genuine. What we need now is information from someone who has dealt with them or knows someone who has dealt with them.

Over to wazuans.

@a4architect, I would appreciate any more information you might gather.

@dunkang - Do you have any info on this?

@maichblack, the best way to get any info about construction is to get to know the project architect,QS or Engineer who at least gets regulated in their conduct by Government/Registration board. I suggest you ask them to give you the architect's contacts then let him/her explain to you.

My office is at Karen near Deputy President's official residence. The billboard you saw is mine. Next time you are around, pass by we discuss.

Give this another few months/or 1 year and many kenyans will be wailing about being conned.

Word. Sadly the guy is most likely struggling very badly and now he has to silence the KRA guys once they come calling.

From experience dealing with wealthy people, any serious businessman making serious cash is usually extremely economical with their life story.

Our friend from Dinara is freely telling us how he makes 20M per month. It can only mean one thing; he is doing badly. Another Laura Akunga.

These KRA guys must have a department going through media for such stories. I know a former campus mate who had an okay business but exaggerated his story to Daily Nation. KRA guys were in his premises the next day. Vile alionyeshwa!!! Wee!!!

These people never learn!!!!

It is high time people started suing this media guys!!! They air and/or publish stories full of lies, half truths etc. without even doing basic research.

I remember years back there was an "investor" lady who came to Kenya looking for opportunities to invest "Billions of shillings". The Daily Nation run the story of the billionaire business woman in town. She even had an interview on Nation TV. That bought her legitimacy. Wacha the con job began! She conned business men, ministers, senior government officials etc., didn't pay her hotel bills and disappeared!!! I think even the late Joseph Kamotho was conned. Most victims did not come forward for fear of looking stupid yet they were senior officials and "captains of industry"!

KRA are merciless. There was a time an acquintance gave a testimony how God has blessed his family in Christian magazine; him driving a prado & wife a passat ... while working for some mediocre NGO. Next thing he knew was some serious tax assessment had landed on him to justify his lifestyle vs what he earns. Never try those publicity stunts especially if you know you are tainted!

Heshan de Silva is a classic case of media not doing their research and praising and airing that fake dollar billionaire in his 20s.

You can't sue in these cases. As long as whatever was written came from the horse's mouth, media companies can cover their asses.

If you get a good lawyer, he can make them sweat big time even if they eventually win. After that, they will think twice.

The negative publicity alone (Them admitting they broadcasted or printed a bullshit story with zero research) will hit the brand big time. Two, three more cases and everyone KNOWS they are basically just gutter press. Believability is a big asset in media. Even the choice on newscasters in major news outlets is based on this. "Can people believe this guy?".
