Mr Bernard Njoroge has revived it
Quote:
Treetop will be available in orange, mango, apple and tropical flavours, and instead of the famous glass bottle, the drink is now packed in plastic containers.

Industrialisation Cabinet Secretary Adan Mohamed said the relaunch would go a long way in creating employment and supporting horticultural farming.

“I understand Sky Foods will be sourcing mango pulp and passion fruit concentrate locally. These products are grown by small-scale farmers in the coastal, central and eastern regions,” he said.

Mr Mohamed said an estimated 3,000 farmers would benefit directly by having a ready market for their crop and the number is expected to rise with the envisaged demand for Treetop.

Good question, but it looks like they want to go for even the small shops...

I read they have products to compete with the likes of Afia

I know they will have customers in the beginning (people remembering the "good" old days) then people will realize just how things have changed... no one likes the taste of sodium benzoate in their mouths these days.

Yaani they will be using the "original" formula? So what changed apart from the bottle being plastic?
The original used to be squash i,e concentrated juice to be diluted.the likes of afya are ready to drink juices?

Nostalgia Marketing is tricky. Glamorous if it succeeds but can also be a dramatic failure.

Just how "healthy" is the juice?I am sure most of the potential buyers(who are now of age)would now be looking for low sugar/sugarless
or 'pure' juice products?

I agree with Masukuma, Tree top will not sell for the now very health conscious customers

Kenyans are not as health conscious as you guys imagine!!

Kenyans actually eat more junk food* now than in the "good old" Tree Top days! We also have more obese/overweight people*. Drinking through the roof. Physical activity at an all time low!!!

Kenyans are far much worse off now!

* Both actual numbers and per capita!
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

Most of the people who have memories of Tree top are well in their 40s. Target market for juices is much younger.

Differentiate the BRAND from the PRODUCT.

Brand Treetop can sell but the Product may not due to its artificial flavours and a different market.

But altering the quality may interefer with the brand.
..Treetop Herbal# thinking aloud sorry#

This, I think, is where the issue is. The market accepted their absence and moved on. Many other products filled the gap and the younger fellows can't remember the brand(too young) or have never even heard of it

It might end up being like a new product thing, but let's wait and see how the older people will react after tasting something they haven't had a chance of for 2 decades
