Jesus Christ and the 13 Apostles (The 12 Disciples minus Judas and the other two chosen after Jesus death - Paul and Matthias) were not rich. Yes, the poor will always be there I even know some from stories of riches to rags who earned their respect and are still respected. Success is not measured in monetary terms. There are so many crooked rich men out there. Problem with the media is they always highlight the rich as successful...just look keenly around at the people you truly respect. I measure success as spirituality, integrity, family, love, true to-die-for friendships, great marriages e.t.c. To be rich is an additional blessing which can also be a curse in its own ways esp when it steals your peace and all the other things that I have described above.

Conventional wisdom: We should only have children if we can take good care of them and be able to provide for all their basic needs

Question: The dirt poor are unable to provide for themselves and of course will be unable to provide for their children. Should poor people therefore have chldren?

very true. My brother has 4 kids and an idler and still doing his wife!. Have to take care of his kids. Lucky enough miscarried the last child and doctors had to chop of those tubes!!! served her right! Yes the poor will have as many children as they are able to sleep wth their wives. Part of it is ignorance and lack of education.

I used to criticize the poor until I got a warning.The bible in Psalms(I dont have time to get the chapter) states that whoever mocks the poor mocks their maker.In James it states that its sin to have prejudice especially to the poor since God has chosen them to be the heirs of his kingdom.
The utimate goal of investing is to buy low sell high;if we re-write this core equation in psychology terms it becomes buy fear sell greed.

Now, you guys have ways of entertaining yourselves... you have may be a 42 inch TV loaded with DSTV, GTV(I hear they are coming back), you can afford a beer with friends, you can go for movies or holidays... how do the poor compensate for this lack of entertainment? and you blame them? Thats their only form of entertainment.

...and do they have to do it at 7.30 am, 10.30 am, 12.30 pm 2.30 pm, 4.30 pm 6.30 pm ....every day? Those are many hours of procreation and no production...
