Why do bosses like harassing their hapless employees? Have you ever worked in a one man show work environment.You will be grateful if at the end of each day like I am now if you dont get a heart ailment.

Harassment :
A boss who is:

1.belittling, petty and loud.Looks for petty mistakes to capitalise on forgetting no man is perfect.
Is very good on threats and intimidation of firing employees on slight mistakes.

2.who condescends to talk to the individuals in their group, but never listens to their input.

3.constantly berates his people.

4.consider themselves better than everyone else and they don't care who knows it.According to them nobody ever does anything good in the company except them.

5.makes 1001 promises and never satisfy them.

@Grateful, pole sana.

Being a boss indeed is a position of resonsibility. Hope you'd take a few minutes to read another thread which explains why most bosses are jerks.

It has nothing to do with one-man show. Even in a large organization, you report to one boss.

Since it's difficult to change him/her, perhaps you should share on qualities that make employees useless. My drift being it's easier to imbibe good qualities that will prepare you for the next job.

@grateful

secret, Learn your boss. Know what he likes and what he does not like. Do exactly what he wants. Dont show him disrespect in one way or another.though there are limits. If he is our brother from the hills, sometimes they like being bossy. Let them be. there is no harm so long as there are boundaries

@ Grateful, while you are still there, be sure to learn how not to be like him/her.

I used to have a similar impatient attitude toward such bosses.

Until I read a book by the late Carlos Castaneda on the training of a Mexican Yaqui Magician. Castaneda wrote several books on this and sorry I can not remember the title. But I do remember this: the most difficult test a candidate had to undergo before graduating as a magician was to find the worst kind of boss possible and serve or work for him faithfully and effectively for months (until his teacher said he could leave).

It was a test in humility, patience and wisdom. For the writer it turned out to be an important lesson in self realization. For instance, he ended up overcoming his original prejudices towards his oppressive boss and becoming his friend but he also identified that he had latent victim tendencies in himself that needed to be resolved, which was why he attracted such 'villains' in the first place. He also learned that wisdom is not a one man show - it can come from 'the mouths of babes' and jerks as the good book says.

Nothing in the universe happens for no reason.
"The opposite of a correct statement is a false statement. But the opposite of a profound truth may well be another profound truth." (Niels Bohr)

I don't know why i'm so tempted to believe you WAKANYUGI. i have a really nasty asian boss. Initially i couldn't take it and i was so bitter and repressed. I have now learnt to deal with him by not taking him seriously..yes..i don't hear half the things he says. I am seriously job hunting but one thing i know for sure its life's hardest lessons....working with a man who has absolutely no regard for your opinions!!!!
