obiero wrote:VituVingiSana wrote:VituVingiSana wrote:@obiero ... When were City Trust shares ever manipulated? There was value not recognized by many. Did you know City Trust was a major owner of I&M Bank shares? Buying City Trust was similar to buying I&M Bank shares? And City Trust told the shareholders that every year [back as far as I remember] and those who were patient, harvested. BTW, the chairman of City Trust was a 50% owner of City Trust shares. He never sold his shares as long as City Trust was City Trust.
Now compare that to my travails with KQ. Useless buggers [board and management] who had few shares [0.01% or less] were playing with fire to expand the airline [debt] and failing miserably. Losses in 2012-13 and 2013-14 (& wait for 2014-15 HY] wiped out profits made since Titus [zero shares in KQ] took over.
Give me another City Trust any day! I am no prophet but... this did not require great forecasting skills on my part either! Retrieve the cartoon for City Trust from the year 2006 upto its change to I&M, post it here and then lets discuss Why? What's the point? Greedy when others are fearful. Very fearful when others are greedy - to paraphrase Warren Buffett

My bad ... Coop ranking retained in 1H13. ... As said by @obiero, time is coming when COOP will be at top 2, only after Equity The question is not retaining number 3...its passing KCB.... Bank. H1 2013 PAT 1. KCB----------------> Ksh7.2Bn 2. Equity Bank-----> Ksh6.3Bn 3. Coop--------------> Ksh4.7Bn A Ksh2.5Bn gap between no1 and no 3!!!! If anything Coop is more closer to catching EB than KCB....men lie...numbers dont lie! In terms of net profit Equity is already number one. King of the jungle is bleeding from wounds in South Sudan and now Burundi.. The prophet spoke in 2013 and said in three years we shall see EQTY, COOP & KCB as top three. 2016 net profit beckons. @Obiero; The lending is in tranches and at different levels of the project. So far coop has lent out ksh.10bn to centum in total but at a particular time the loan is about sh.6-7bn if you exclude repayments centum has made so far. Centum also would not be in a position to repay ksh.60bn at a single time. Wealth is built through a relatively simple equation Wealth=Income + Investments - Lifestyle

Walked into a Coop bank to deposit cash this morning and they have gotten rid of deposit tellers. You fill in a deposit slip and put the money + deposit slip in a sealed paper bag and drop them into a box.
Looks like a McKinsey cost cutting reform but not sure how it will work out.

Looks like a McKinsey cost cutting reform but not sure how it will work out. I understand they have implemented that in some branches, not all. Apparently they later send you a confirmation sms. My question is, what if I am depositing something like school fees and I need the deposit slip for onward forwarding to the school?? Some schools don't have interlinked systems with the bank. You have to take the deposit slip to the school as proof of payment. Utafanya nini??? Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

That is what we call lack of ideas in growing profits. Maichblack has raised a very valid point. A bank should grow profits through loaning out more money or products to its customers. This bank needs visionary management to let customers enjoy more and more of their products. And that's where KCB and Equity Bank beat coop;loans too pricey. Last year co-op lost a lot of customers because of poor service;what is Gideon doing to bring them back. Wealth is built through a relatively simple equation Wealth=Income + Investments - Lifestyle

I posted that long ago. seems many haven't used it. It began at Tomboya branch..After some weeks, staff from other branches came in understudy from where they were sent to respective regions/branches to teach to their colleagues. slip worry? Dont worry. While depositing cash or cheque you fill deposit slip in duplicate first. Include your Mobile no. and email on slip Write acc no on back if cheque. Take deposit slip and pass through a machine thats just adjacent to drop box. The slip is stamped. Tear off original slip, wrap in the cash/cheque,put in.the envelope and seal. Drop the envelope in box. Retail duplicate slip as your copy.( contains stamp) After 1-2 hrs you receive sms on the mobile no you left indicating details if transaction. I have those slips i did with. Everybody STEALS, a THIEF is one who's CAUGHT stealing something of LITTLE VALUE. !!!

So who confirms that you have actually deposited cash before the deposit slip is stamped?

So who confirms that you have actually deposited cash before the deposit slip is stamped? The box is opened every hour by 2/3 individuals under cctv. If there are anormalies you're notified in sms. The cctv gives evidence. Ever done deposit at ATM? Anyway it doesn't mean there couldn't be colluding but its higher % secure. Colluding could mean a lot of effort. Inserting less cash and filling more cash would inconvinience one. Simply i think its based on morality. Everybody STEALS, a THIEF is one who's CAUGHT stealing something of LITTLE VALUE. !!!
