why why would the KK ceo not buy shares????

Yaani he has nothing even on ESOP. No wonder he is poor in investor relations!

He should have kept that bit to himself.

My sentiments exactly!!!

Why volunteer information that doesn't add any value but might bring some negatives.
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

This one should have been run through the PR office before publishing.

On a positive note, this is the exact kind of CEO we need. It means every coin counts in his world. No wonder KK is doing so well. @Kryptonite no need for edits. I think he wanted the world to know who he is. Don't feel for the wife and kids. They are used to the man.
Time is money, so money is time. Money saved is time gained in reverse! Money stores your life’s energy. You expend your energy, get paid money, and store that money for a future purchase made in a currency.

The guy flies economy!!! That means everyone else at KK flies economy (work related) - na ukicheza utembee!!! I don't think you would expect a 5 star hotel accomodation when you arrive etc. etc. etc. Such cost cutting adds up... to a big smile... worn by the shareholder!

Anyway that is not a bad guy to hire as a CEO.
I find satisfaction in owning great business, not trading them

Every coin counts for him & that does not mean he is in sync with shareholders...

Naikuni had ZERO shares in KQ but his salary was paid in cash. You saw where that ended up. Do you think he refunded a penny of his prior bonuses to KQ or its shareholders?

Living off the stock market is a fantasy my friends, the only people that do are the stock brokers because they make free money on your way in and out of the market. You can live off the stock market in a volatile upward market where you play as a day trader or a swing trader, but even then you will have to be very good at timing the top and bottom of stocks. This is not a worthwhile venture, while you could make a lot of money real quick, you could also lose a lot of money real quick too. Real money in the stock market is made over a very long time, it entails investming money you will not need in the near horizon. You dont wanna have money in the stock market that you will need for paying rent in a couple of months time, what will happen if the markets tanks? Making money in the stock market is a simple thing, it already been figured out and it only takes discipline. All these billionaires in kenya and all over the world did the same thing. Whether you talking about Buffet or Jimna Mbaru, or Chris Kirubi. These people invested in other businesses, be they Insurance(Buffet) or Real estate(Kirubi) and reinvested their returns in their businesses. After a while their revenues got really high and thats when they started pumping money into the stock market. They never at any one point relied on the stock market for their daily bread.

woo!!!!!....quite adulation for value investors. but also remember that on the other side of the continuum lies hotshot speculators who have made a name & reputation for themselves, even bring some economies to their knees while encashing hefty cheques in the name of TRADING....George Soros being the luminary of the pack....so both sides merit laudatory praise....

@VVS I just realized that people seem to be confusing "active" investment with "passive" investment.

A broker/ trader lives off the stock market by active trading. That is his business but even he cannot live off share trading forever. When he grows old and his energies depart, he will retreat to his pension, rental income, dividends, interest or begging from his kids or serikali.
Life is short. Live passionately.
