Therein lies the error of Safaricom's logic. If a dongle works for you.....perfect! you were definitely not the target market. The kawaida guy is one person who doesn't live by their TV. Who watches TV when they want to for leisure, who doesn't have to download anything because they can watch it on demand. The only evidence we have so far shows only one guy uses more than 50GB here on Wazua. Where are the other zuku subscribers? But watching on demand is the same as downloading...maybe even more given you might not finish a show and go back etc. I am waiting for Zuku to advise my usage. I'm a very kawaida guy. Business opportunities are like buses, there's always another one coming

I'm telling you, the kids will finish that 50gb in 3 days max. This big box is a midro class priced product, with masufferer bundles. You want to sell hardware for 10k, but dont have unlimited? FAIL. mboss 50gb in 8 hours, 50gb in 3days Dataguzzlers in the making The kids must be streaming adult movies and having internet sex At one time I bought Safaricom 1.5gb at 1k and the kids finished it in 2hrs streaming live some UK TV channel to watch formula 1 racing. Since then I moved to orange unlimited. That 1k would have given me 1 week of orange unlimited internet. That said, with 3 undersea fibre cables, we should be paying 1k for 1 month unlimited internet. Safaricom giving 50gb at 4k is nonsense. Well stated. Safaricom's bigbox is utter nonsense. They should have partnered with BambaTV and offered buyers of BambaTV decoders a free 3G/4G modem and reviewed their data bundles packages. That arrangement is not any different from what they are offering in that bigbox. And something else you most probably are missing is that half of that data bundle is Night Shift (10PM to 6AM). So, in reality, you are getting 25GB for 4K and some additional night shift 25GB that always seem to expire for me. Receive with simplicity everything that happens to you.” ― Rashi

murchr wrote:It all boils down to the devices you are using. 3G devices can stream upto about 10GB on a 30hr/month. 4G devices use up/consume higher. I would like to know how many GBs those on Zuku are consuming, even if its unlimited, they state the data usage on your bills. The bills don't state but I at times from the router graphs and Torrent stats I get some high figures 100GB plus.Though a number of users rely on this connection. on that note, a kawaida guy should also not spend 4k on 50GBs and some FTAs per month. thats not kawaida to me. Atleast ZUKU is trying with some HD channels and unlimited internet.. now thats value for a kawaida guy! the warmer the blankets, the colder the future

Backwards monopolistic thinking by Safcom, assuming consumers are stupid enough to not understand unlimited data. Business opportunities are like buses, there's always another one coming

So we can conclude this safcom tv is only about selling internet bundles, half of which you use during daylight and the other half usiku! since their FTA is worse than bamba tv

For it to qualify as such it would need a broadband internet (fiber,ethernet..) connection so it can relay the signal via the internet.. Clearly if this was one of the features Safaricom would never stop shouting about it. Hii ni 2 out of 10 until hio unlimited yao ifike 300gb limit Live and learn; and don’t forget, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I managed to visit the Safaricom Sarit shop yesterday and I was happy with some of what the box offers that is Android OS,DLNA , HDMI, SPDIF and RCA There is an Ethernet port ,USB and micro SD slot. However a disadvantage I noted was the 3G aerial is inbuilt and hence placing the box in some of the entertainment units we have in the houses the 3g signal will have degraded. When I get home I only have 3G only on 2 points in the house and mind you its Lower Kabete.Neither of the 2 points are in the sitting room. Apparently the 10k is an offer. If they would sold it at KSHS.4999 I would have bought one meaning that they sell without the 6 months bundles.(which doesn't look possible from the conversation I had yesterday). I will hang on to the FTA box that I have till someone posts a box on OLX after they find out that they cant manage the bundles. I will in turn connect the rj45 to the current Orange 3g router I have in the house and I will have a superb setup in the house. Divers - can you laugh in scuba gear, or will you drown? I was wondering. - James May.

DVB-T2 Set Top Box - Think of Jolini @ 3.2K/- ii. 3G/4G Modem - 4G modems are 4K/-, 3G are 1K/-, iii. Wi-Fi Router - Orange Domino is at 5.3K/-, iv. Digital Video Recorder - DSTV Explora is 28K/-, I do not dispute that theBigBox has some good features, however, capping data usage should not be happening at this day and age, especially at the cost they are asking for!!! Who offers WiMax in Nairobi? Is it cheaper that this 3G bundles? I need something wireless, not fibre, not cable. Receive with simplicity everything that happens to you.” ― Rashi

WiMax is ridiculously expensive I tried to check around for my home connection and I ended up buying a 3G router and an outdoor aerial and I have a very good connection now.I use either Orange or Safaricom . Really need something to replace my Zuku, BUT
Safcom as usual being greedy insist we need bundles. I can see my kids chewing through 50GB in 3 days...leave alone a month.
I think this bigbox will fail.
So sad. Such a product needs unlimited data. Why do you want to replace Zuku? They tried to bury us, they didn't know we were seeds.
