What's a kawaida guy? If youre not using 50gb or more, then why do you need the box? Just use a dongle or your phone.

Therein lies the error of Safaricom's logic.

If a dongle works for you.....perfect! you were definitely not the target market. The kawaida guy is one person who doesn't live by their TV. Who watches TV when they want to for leisure, who doesn't have to download anything because they can watch it on demand.

The only evidence we have so far shows only one guy uses more than 50GB here on Wazua. Where are the other zuku subscribers?

But watching on demand is the same as downloading...maybe even more given you might not finish a show and go back etc.

I am waiting for Zuku to advise my usage. I'm a very kawaida guy.

No boss.....watching on demand is NOT downloading

50gb is 8 hours of playing Call of Duty online. How is that unlimited?

Ngai Mwathani!

I'm telling you, the kids will finish that 50gb in 3 days max.

This big box is a midro class priced product, with masufferer bundles. You want to sell hardware for 10k, but dont have unlimited?

FAIL.

Laughing out loudly smile mboss 50gb in 8 hours, 50gb in 3days Dataguzzlers in the making d'oh!

The kids must be streaming adult movies and having internet sex

At one time I bought Safaricom 1.5gb at 1k and the kids finished it in 2hrs streaming live some UK TV channel to watch formula 1 racing. Since then I moved to orange unlimited. That 1k would have given me 1 week of orange unlimited internet.

That said, with 3 undersea fibre cables, we should be paying 1k for 1 month unlimited internet. Safaricom giving 50gb at 4k is nonsense.

Well stated. Safaricom's bigbox is utter nonsense.

They should have partnered with BambaTV and offered buyers of BambaTV decoders a free 3G/4G modem and reviewed their data bundles packages. That arrangement is not any different from what they are offering in that bigbox.

And something else you most probably are missing is that half of that data bundle is Night Shift (10PM to 6AM). So, in reality, you are getting 25GB for 4K and some additional night shift 25GB that always seem to expire for me.

All in all it is some good business move by Safaricom. This is not just a set top box - whose functionality is like 2% of the box.
This is in fact a very powerful signal repeater. It's like a microcell, an indoor base station that receives and amplifies safaricom signals. It also provides wifi calling. The net effect of this will be that Safaricom customers will enjoy significantly better quality calls and reception - even if you don't have the box, if one of your neighbours has it you'll get great reception. You'll note that weekends are when Safaricom has the most signal issues - and most people are at home weekends. When you plug this box in, you'll be helping Safcom improve their quality of service - and the power bill is on you........good stuff!!!

Jakom, hiyo cut wamekupa utanunua nayo Bombay Sapphire weekend!!

Jaber, simple facts.....good to appreciate technology at times!!!

It all boils down to the devices you are using. 3G devices can stream upto about 10GB on a 30hr/month. 4G devices use up/consume higher. I would like to know how many GBs those on Zuku are consuming, even if its unlimited, they state the data usage on your bills.

The bills don't state but I at times from the router graphs and Torrent stats I get some high figures 100GB plus.Though a number of users rely on this connection. Below is a screenshot of my torrent server.

on that note, a kawaida guy should also not spend 4k on 50GBs and some FTAs per month. thats not kawaida to me.

Atleast ZUKU is trying with some HD channels and unlimited internet.. now thats value for a kawaida guy!

At 4K a month, no one should be capping your data use. That's so 2010.

Backwards monopolistic thinking by Safcom, assuming consumers are stupid enough to not understand unlimited data.
