How do you explain natural disasters(e.g Nepal earthquake)? Diseases that affect babies? Animals like the Loa Loa eyeworm that can only survive by burrowing through the eyeballs of children from the inside out?

It depends on the mythologizer and the context. Like in this case, I'd probably opt for the scientific myth.
