Okay i also agree half of a yellow sun. I will get a copy on saturday. Will start asap. When is the first meeting! Chimamanda is a great. Read purple hibiscus and have been meaning to read half of a yellow sun. Yeah that is a great choice!! Its best to choose a day when we can be meeting to discuss like every other wednesday or thursday? @ muganda that come to 3 the number of people who want to start with half of a yellow sun. That is quorum the rest will join soon enough. @Wazua .. can you facilitate a virtual meeting room. People are moving away and to other virtual rooms eg google groups after meeting on wazua or SK.Eg Eskay company, SK charity. Stop playing catch up and be proactive and facilitate a virtual means to have a discussion.

I'm also interested, never been in any book club. All I know is I need to read more often. Yellow sun? I'll get it before weekend and start on it.. "If you understand, things are just as they are; if you do not understand, things are just as they are"

Hi. I would like to join. I'll take Left to tell by Immaculee Illibagiza. Which bookshop can I get it in town? If you have only one smile in you, give it to the people you love - Maya Angelou

Whooo Hooo it's agreed. Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Adichie. It looks we're 5/6 already. Let's pick up the book over the weekend and start on the first chapters.
We post on who's got the book, how many pages we're getting through, what time you're setting aside to read...BUT we cannot discuss any of the content until after 1 week - Thu 18th.
Then we can exchange views on say first 4/6 chapters. I'll even post some questions from the reading guide for further chewing on the day. Can't wait to get started...

Also got invitation from TUJUANE, but i did not make it for the Book club. Any one who attended jana, kindly let us know how it was coz am also interested in joining a book club.
There is a very interesting book by Robert Kiyosaki-Conspiracy of the Rich. It could form a good discussion. A must read for investors and entrepreneurs

@Jacy26 just saw your post. Please let's start with the Half of a Yellow Sun (unless ofcourse you've read it). Plenty time to go through all the books soon...
@benzi good stuff on Tujuane. @Wakanyugi had also resolved to join StoryMoja. Right now we're about to embark on a journey to West Africa with Chimamanda Adichie. Maybe we'll tackle your suggestion next book if members agree... who knows?

Yes yes indeed, Thu 18; sorry for the oversight.
I've just picked my copy but haven't unwrapped it yet. I avow I'd seen a different cover on it before. This new one must be quite recent: very dark earthy tones; silouhette of an African woman clothed in red-yellow parterned garment. Even has an emblem proclaiming Orange Broadband Winner.
But I'll unwrap it today evening or on Saturday.

Book Club peoples, hope you were all able to get the book. Mine cost about Kes 695/=.
Understood one reason why a book club works. Opened and read first 2-3 pages on Thu but my wheels were grinding. I knew I have to participate in review this Thu 18, so it kind of forced me to continue reading.
After first 2 chapters, turning pages has become easier.

I am currently on the first chapter of Jackie Collins "Lucky". Maybe not a very serious read, but a book nevertheless. It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt... -Mark Twain

Book club honchos, our review is tomorrow. I'm sure we should be able to talk about the first 3/4 chapters. Am with you @kissedxx, reading is getting easier and the key has become finding time.
Isn't it surprising how when you get older you get so BUSSSYYY doing stuff? Now I understand why people say you shouldn't waste your youth.
But at a certain level, reading reminds me of yester years and makes me feel younger - some kind of exercise...

@Jacy26, @kissedxx, @Zakumi, @leona, @tony stark, @murren Sasa hii ni nini? I feel like a Prime Minister who's started a fight against corruption and I've been left so alone. How goes your book reading so far? Tomorrow should be about 2 weeks since the start.

@Muganda LMAO! i like your Persistence. Honestly...i havent bought the book, thus havent read it. By the time you guys were expressing your bragging rights of ownership of the said book..i was in the bush,on a working mission,so singeweza kujipatia nakala ya kitabu hicho,so i figured i'd just as well wait for you guys to finish up and join in on the next one. So...what to do now? But am seriously keen on this book club thing.. Nevermind what haters say, ignore them til they fade away - Just live your life
