These are two different people called William West and Will westand no they are not related, they are the reason as to why we now use fingerprints for identification

Quote:
903 – The William West – Will West Case at a Federal Prison in Leavenworth, Kansas,
changed the way that people were classified and identified.

When a man named Will West entered the Leavenworth Prison System, in 1903, he was
“booked” into the prison, as all other inmates. His face was photographed, and his Bertillion
measurements were taken. Upon completion of this process, it was noted that another
inmate, known as William West, who was already incarcerated at Leavenworth, had the
same name, Bertillion measurements, and bore a striking resemblance to Will West

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks

Henrietta Lacks was only 31 when she died of cervical cancer in 1951 in a Baltimore hospital. Not long before her death, doctors removed some of her tumor cells. They later discovered that the cells could thrive in a lab, a feat no human cells had achieved before.

Soon the cells, called HeLa cells, were being shipped from Baltimore around the world. In the 62 years since — twice as long as Ms. Lacks’s own life — her cells have been the subject of more than 74,000 studies, many of which have yielded profound insights into cell biology, vaccines, in vitro fertilization and cancer.

One scientist estimates that if you could pile all HeLa cells ever grown onto a scale, they’d weigh more than 50 million metric tons—an inconceivable number, given that an individual cell weighs almost nothing. Another scientist calculated that if you could lay all HeLa cells ever grown end-to-end, they’d wrap around the Earth at least three times, spanning more than 350 million feet. In her prime, Henrietta herself stood only a bit over five feet tall.
