Female journalists were Thursday forced to wear hijabs during a Kenya Commercial Bank Islamic product launch.

In addition, those who were allowed in sat separately from their male colleagues and followed the proceedings from a screen.

Nation photojournalist Diana Ngila who attended the launch said she had to leave and requested a male colleague to cover the event.

She said: “They told me to use a scarf I had around my neck to cover my head. I got inside and found men only. When I went to the podium to get a photo of the guests, I was asked to move.”

Muslim leaders to appeal High Court ban on veils in schools

Quote:

The article says: “A person shall not be compelled to act, or engage in any act, that is contrary to the person’s belief or religion.

Ms Hassan said the decision by the High Court overlooked several clauses of the Constitution and therefore cannot go without being challenged.

“The other day when a woman was undressed for indecent dressing, we heard cries of 'my dress my choice’. Asking a Muslim woman to walk without her hijab is the same as undressing her. Let the law apply equally to all,” she said.

This puts the 'progressives' in an awkward situation. How does one object to this yet still maintain the goodwill they are securing from the Muslims?

Yet I see harmony in all this.

Can you play in your football team in your pajama? The coach has the right to kick you out to the bench if you don't follow the rules of the occasion. So the rules of the occasion was set, it was their choice to comply or stay out. Reports say those without hijab were provided space at the rear of the venue, which was fair enough.

@Alphadoti,stop contradicting yourself; If wearing hijab is freedom, I should also have the freedom not to wear it.But once you start dictating how I dress then you should also expect me to dictate how you dress

Just like your reasoning, I do not blame the European countries for banning hijab. Shape in our ship out!

High Court Judge Harun Makau ruled that Muslim students at St Paul Kiwanjani Secondary School should not wear hijab while attending classes.

He said allowing such a thing in a school that is sponsored by the Methodist Church was illegal and discriminatory.

Keep cheering.

It will consume you one day, the very day you fall foul to it.
