Am in the process of consolidating ideas for my maisonette (which I may rent out at some point) before I engage the professionals... A brief description....
Ground floor will be sitting, kitchen, ensuite bedroom, commn tiolet with shower and dinning area with access to staircase.. (laterif I ever rent it out, the dinning area will be an extra bedroom)
Upper floor will have sitting, ensuite bedroom, bedroom (to be converted to kitchen for rental later) and another bedroom+ common toilet/shower.
The modification am looking at and need Wazuan's contributions is:
For the remaining bedroom, am thinking of a 'Jack and Jill' toilet/shower. Basically allow the common toilet/shower be accessible from the sitting room as well as from the bedroom.
Questions:
a) How acceptable will this be to tenants?
b) Can anyone think of a 'sort of automated' mechanism to lock the doors such that if I enter and lock the room from the bedroom, then a person trying to access it from the sitting room can't gain access and at the same time a person trying to access the door from the bedroom while am inside can't gain access? A locking system that won't depend on Kenya power will be most preferred.
