Has anyone invested in Olympia?
What do Wazurians think of it?
Right now the price is low at 6.85...

Any insights will be greatly appreciated.

I saw an article or interview (CNBC Africa) [1-2 months ago] in which the MD said they expect profits of 40mn (EPS of 1/-). So not bad on that basis.

@VituVingiSana, beat me to the punch. But I'd looked at this Olympia for some time, with anticipation, then it all fell apart.

I also see potential gain. Consider though, counter is not very fluid.
Don't know whether the fruits of business growth are what will come through in the results? Improvement may only reflect restructuring or stop of blood-letting.

@rich vee.. this stock has been really beaten up due to the rough times its had before..
but it did a major restructuring of its balance sheet and took alot of debt off it..
it is also likely to benefit greatly from a recovery in south africa and botswana..
it is also diversifying its business out of construction into venture capital and food business...

All these factors have led me to believe this stock has good days ahead hence in around april i'm about to put a major chunk of my holdings into it...

but please @richvee do alot of your own research first because this is a small cap stock and they tend to be very dangerous/rewarding depending on ones choice...

Unless you are buying/selling large numbers of shares, it seems pretty liquid (by Kenyan standards)... I notice nowadays (since the Rights Issue + price dip below 10), it trades 3,000 - 20,000 shares daily...

The year end is weird (28 Feb)... so official results should be out in 3-5 months.

But also note the price is down 25% since...
(Rights was at 14/-)

And Safaricom was down 40% at one point from IPO price...

So who knows?

This thing is a fraud!!!. I would not touch anything run by Michael Matu.
Sample this;

2006: Olympia capital purchases Plush Products (Pty) Ltd in South Africa, for Kshs 180m.
Sept 2007: Olympia raises Kshs. 420m in the NSE in a just fully subscribed rights issue.
2007: Olympia acquired an additional 20% of Avon Ltd from wavon Limited (which is owned by the same directors - sic MATU wamae family). The company owns property in Industrial Area Nairobi. This is done based on 'directors valuation' and not and independent valuation as should be the case for property of such value.
Jan 2009: Plush products is closed down, ostensibly over business model gone wrong/strong retailer influence. Never mind that this company was already in operation prior to Olympia coming in

I sense lack of full disclosure on the part of the directors and manipulation of information, even insider trading from this.
