A student in strathmore has won 300k on the just concluded NSE youth challenge fantasy game. When is Wazua going to give 100000 to our FaNtaSEy wizards? They promised to do so by end of August or Sept 2011.
Wisdom to detect when share prices hit rock bottom.
When interest on bonds keep going up, you know the bear run is on high street. When interest on bonds start leveling, the bear has met the bull and they have hit rock bottom. When the interest rates on bonds start coming down, the bull has overpowered the bear and you better be riding the bull.

Who knows how much the guy had made on the fantasy game for him to be declared the winner? I suspect something very small.

“The winning team were able to generate a return of Sh948,000 on their initial sum of Sh2 million which is a return of 47 percent in a three-month period,” said NSE Chief Executive Officer Peter Mwangi of the competition which ran from May to July this year.

“In that period, the NSE 20-share index dropped by seven percent meaning that these youngsters were able to outperform the market by 54 percent in one quarter,”

On that note,i also suggest wazua incorporate the T+3 clearing period to make the games more realistic.

@Maka...that return is possible primarily because the game allows for leverage...I guess upto another 2 million with a very low interest rate. This means that the guys may have made just 20-25% during that period which was amplified by the loaned cash. When participating in such games, the best strategy is to get as much leverage as you can and make the best decisions...a return of 20% can even be amplified to 60% if you leverage. The constraints here are time, money and expertise. You get the most leverage possible on the first day of trading and have your list of companies to buy the same day. I guess many wazuans could have outdone those guys considering it was the 2012 bull year
A successful man is not he who gets the best, it is he who makes the best from what he gets.
