He is not the best, Jessica Williams would have done better but I am still excited for him. Once he lives in US for a while and gets himself immersed with the American culture he will become very big, probably as big as Jon. I hope Americans will be patient with him

He should be himself. If he tries to fit in the shoes of Jon Stewart, he will fail with a thud. Piers Morgan tried to fit into the shoes pf Larry King. He failed. It is only Larry King who can hang his balls on suspenders. Nobody else.

Bad idea! Some promotions are premature and lead to self-destruction. He is a non-American and has a non-American accent. The shows ratings will plunge and he will suffer the same fate as Piers Morgan. I will be right here waiting to say 'I told you so!'

People are too bloody sensitive and pretentious!! It is bloody comedy for crying out loud. Someone will be made fun of. Laugh and move on.

The minute you start dissecting jokes then it is no longer comedy. Most jokes told by popular and successful comedians would insult you if you took them too seriously!!!

Very huge boots to fill.

I wish him all the best but as you say, his odds are not looking very good. But then again people play and win lotteries with worse odds!

But as you say, TV programming is cut throat in the US. We have seen bigger names fall or moved from prime time slots (and later dropped). He has to bring his A game.

In my opinion, they should have hired an American pro Democrats comedian. I loved watching The Daily Show and The Colbert Report back to back. Jon Stewart on the Democrats side and Stephen Colbert on the Republicans side. The best would be when there was some trending news and you watch Jon Stewart's take on it and immediately after watch Colbert's take (most probably opposite) on the same. Freakin hilarious!!!

Hats off to Jon Stewart. Keeping The Daily Show funny and relevant from 1999 - 16 years! - is no joke! We'll sure miss him! But if I survived the end of 'Friends' (which I was totally addicted to!) I will survive this one too.

Weka link.

And I suspect it is a bonoko story because for starters it is not Jon Stewart who started the show. Craig Kilborn hosted the show between 1996 and 1998.
