Rumor was there and dismissed but you can't rule it out either. It's not a rumour it's totally true there is even an impending go slow from the pilots as 11 have been told they will be retired 2 years early...as for the planes they are being leased out. There are no routes in the forseable future to sustain the -300 which had been ordered. There may be space for the existing -200, but its crew is quite expensive to maintain. Take a 777 which does nbo-dubai-hongkong. You need a set of crew to take it to Dubai, a second set to take it to Hong Kong, another set to return it to Dubai and the set in Dubai to bring it back to nbo. You also need a fourth set as relief. That's four sets to run a single plane. At its basic level you need four sets, but with clever crew management one can get away with three. A 777 captain takes home1.5 metres before allowances. Because of type approval issues, 777 crew can't be deployed say to 787 or 737 or even embraers (haha) Please remove the haha at the end. It seems intent to injure my spirits.. :) www.businessdailyafrica....lindi--Ukunda-flights-/-KQ has nevernin its lifetime done Dubai-Hongkong Used to do Dubai Guangzhou and Dubai Bangkok but both were dropped.Flight deck crew can operate different types as long as they have a type rating for the particular type. 90% of First officers flying the 787 were flying the Embraer and after accruing the required hours will go back as captains of the Embraer. 737 rise up and captain the777. /539550/2651520/-/mfcti7/-/index.html

@obiero, sisi kwisa Dubai’s Emirates has also brought the battle to the doorstep of the troubled Kenya Airways when it announced plans to connect more people with Kenya’s capital, Nairobi, by switching from the current Airbus A330-200 aircraft used in one of the two daily flights to a larger Boeing 777-300 ER starting May 1.

I think this should be an opportune time for Sky Team to sit and collaborate better. KQ being the Africa point man, can create a imaginary Chinese Wall between the West and East - disruptor. 'kupitia kati kati'. That will hinge a lot on getting direct flights to the US. Also, now that Jet A1 is acting right. Nice chart this one http://www.indexmundi.co...=jet-fuel&months=12

Apparently the pilots are on a go-slow because some of their lazy colleagues were fired. Greedy when others are fearful. Very fearful when others are greedy - to paraphrase Warren Buffett
