KK could have good results but with the current trend , Mr market is responding to two things: A very good dvdnd and bonus.

Now that I am sure oil prices will stay low for 18 months, I've sold my KK shares. KK has a low margin business and low price won't help. KK also doesn't have the balance sheet to expand into higher margin businesses. I was hoping Kenya could start drilling its oil in 2016/2017, but I now think we are a good 3/4 years away. This would have made KK a more attractive proposition for the Pumas of this world.

Me suspects Jonah amesuka chini. Low prices favor KK big time. Margin is absolute. Watch the first half results of 2015 and you will understand why.

I am with you on this.

1) Low(er) prices = low(er) needs for financing the same cargo/volume thus reducing the financing costs. Financing Costs should drop 30-50% on the same volume sold YOY i.e. lower financing costs per liter vs 2014.

2) Low(er) prices = high(er) margins on a % basis since the margins/liter remain the same YOY.

3) KK-specific. Lower debt levels (from sales of properties, better debt collection, lower levels of credit, positive cashflow) should lower the cost of financing in 2015.

4) Interest Rates - They have dropped since 2013. Unfortunately not sub-10 but from the 18s to the 14s for many larger firms. I understand that many large firms are paying 12-ish [look at EABL's 3-yr bond] so KK may benefit from this trend. Some like MRM paid off their bonds by refinancing with banks.

5) Volumes will grow with the increase in number of vehicles & lower prices. 20,000 vehicles are registered in Kenya monthly. KK also picked up some station in Rwanda.

6) KK-specific. They dumped low-margin businesses e.g. Jet-A1 which should help them improve margins in 2015.

That said, KK faces challenges in Uganda with the rapid depreciation of the UGX and the anti-competitive market in TZ.

Vague rumor has it they are or could already be exiring TZ. Have also done well in Rwanda and Burundi. First half a definite cracker made really good cash. Ignore DO and his humility.

If Libya oil was to exit Kenya who could likely buy their business KK, Vivo,Gulf energy or Total?
What is the Market strength of KK and could it improve with partnership?
This is what I am waiting to hear from Ohana.

If they exit TZ, which has been a tough (and small market share with just a few stations) market for them, then it will stop the bleeding while giving them some cash.
- Has KK taken the hit (loss of value) or will they take it in 2014 or 1H 2015?
- What happens to the supply chain to Burundi and Rwanda supplied through TZ?
- Is DO humble or just keeping quiet since he does not need to talk up the share price unlike JS?

Have you heard something about Oil Libya?
KK, Vivo & Total would have a tough time acquiring all the stations coz of the current market share. The Competition Authority would be all over them unless there are specific stations available. And Total & KK might not have the cash to do so.
No idea about Gulf but GoK will give NOCK an unfair advantage in such a transaction.

I invested in KK (average price Ksh8.42 inclusive of charges) looking to exit at Ksh13-4 i.e. if another takeover came in or KK made serious PAT.

Neither is going to happen before 2017 and there are infinitely better money making opportunities at the NSE never mind elsewhere

Who said KK cannot within short period rise to 25 Kes. Just saying. If KOrchads went from 3 to 145 kes why can't KK dig its Own Gaza tunnels to this?
