Is it in order for GOK ie kamwana to announce reduction in power tarrifs yet the power distributor is a publicly traded company ?
surely this does not aid in improving minority shareholders value....

That's why I avoid GoK firms whose prices can be dictated by politicians. I got burned on KPLC when the triennial increase was denied/postponed coz of upcoming elections in 2008.

Cost of electricity will reduce. That doesn't mean power tariffs will reduce. Eliminating dependency on Diesel will reduce the COST of power by almost 50%. Check the breakdown of your bill and you'll understand.

Do these pronouncements by the president and the deputy help the share price of Kenya Power? Nope! But they don't affect the VALUE. These statements are aimed at manufacturers. One of biggest challenges to manufacturers in Kenya is the cost of power. Some even relocate or threaten to relocate due to this reason. Ever heard of 'the lesser evil'?
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

yes it is, when it arises from a reduction in pass-through costs of production.

Someone should do these maths of 40 or 50% reduction in cost of electricity. Where is the baseline? We had 722 cts as fuel cost charge in Aug, 571 cts in Sep and 479 cts this month. What will this component be when we are at 40% reduction of power cost?

I get the bit about the power bill, Excellent distinction @MaichBlack on Value vs Share-price.
Price has been static for the last five years.

In a perfect scenario, Fuel Charge should go to Kshs. 0/=. That's the day we will be able to produce all our power using non-diesel powered sources - hydro, thermal etc.

Demand side on KPLC has been very solid. On recent weeks KPLC has been seeing these strong demands.Supply side has always been wiped resulting in several volume spikes.

18 has been a resistance and this seems to have been dealt with!

demand volume speaks alot !informed volumes ???
