...as Flame Tree Group acquires a range of brands most notable being Nature's Own Spice range and Chigs...interesting acquisition this... Flame Tree Group Acquires Food Brands
Nairobi, 10 March 2015 – Flame Tree Group (NSE: FTGH) is today announcing it has agreed terms for the acquisition of four food and snack brands from Chirac Kenya - Natures Own (spices), Chigs (potato crisps), Honeycomb (Biscuits) and Gonuts (nuts).
This brand portfolio had annual turnover of c. KES 90 million for 2014 and is distributed through
leading convenience, and retail channels. As well as the four brands, Flame Tree Group will be absorbing the company’s 60 employees and the Nairobi-based factory and distribution assets.
The acquisition is expected to complete, subject to customary conditions, including competition
authority approval and ratification by the board, during the coming months.
The acquisition will increase scale - and scope for efficiencies - in Flame Tree Group’s food business. The addition of the new brands and assets will more than double the size of the Flame Tree Group food portfolio, enabling cross-promotional opportunities across complementary brands in crisps, biscuits, nuts, and spices.
The acquisition adds another premium brand to Flame Tree Group portfolio. The Natures Own spice brand has been a strong performer in the premium natural spice category with an excellent growth profile. It is a pioneering natural spice offering, setting an early standard in the premium spice categories with its natural ingredients and commitment to flavour innovation.

Interesting company, but valuation?? Who has estimates on NAV, PE. The investor's chief problem - and even his worst enemy - is likely to be himself
