Hey Guys,

I was speaking to a couple of friends and there was talk of starting a sportsbrand.. Kenya's very own Nike or Adidas..But simply beginning with kit designs (just an example) and leaving the products for a later stage..!
I am aware a lot of promotion and marketing is needed..along with that sponsoring various local teams..

Is there already such a brand? Do you see any potential? Please share your thoughts.

Hmmn... our 'colonial mindset' could have you competing with Nike, Addidas, plus their resellers whatever the brand. Unless BeyondZero are willing to take it up (random thoughts)

You have to understand that your primary income stream would be sales to individual consumers. Kitting teams and players is purely for marketing purposes.

Perhaps you could start by conducting market research to see the demand that exists for replica kits for local teams.

Lorna Kiplagat has a brand. That's what the first lady wears when running. Her prices are on the higher side though ksh 7,900 is the most expensive I saw and Ksh4,500 the cheapest though I didn't look at everything that was on display.
I hear there are plans to ban mitumba imports to promote local industries. I think you are on the right track.
Lord, thank you!
