It does not matter whether your school was number 5 or number 5,000; it also does not matter whether you were number 1 or number 436,502.
The only thing that matters is what you scored... and more importantly, what you're going to do with it in the next six months.
After six months, even your score becomes meaningless! hebu waambie! All Mushrooms are edible! Some Mushroom are only edible ONCE!

This year almost everyone scored an A or A-. This is a great school coz they dont admit only the best students from each county but admit average students and convert them to performers!!
That aside, my point is, the grade that one scores high school doesnt really determine how ones future life will be. know of some guyz from KB who scored in 2002 and enrolled for medicine at UoN and up to date he is still a 3rd year! another one scored an A in 2005 currently he is still in 3rd year, all of them because of alcoholism and indiscipline cases. My classmate, who was the last in our class scored a B and studied some clearance and forwarding course and currently imports and sells cars. He is rich as per our standards, while those of us who went to campus are still employed as employees earning less than 1000 dollars per month!!
Basic education is important but UJANJEZ is the most important thing in life!! This obsession with money is going to ruin us! For "the love of money is the root of all evil".@UpcomingPaperChaser; I enjoyed reading your post up to the point where you implied that success in life = being rich! I don't know you or your classmate; but may be, you have a more cohesive family than him; or you are more at peace with God than he is; etc. Assuming that success can only be measured by riches is the same as saying that intelligence can only be measured by KCPE/KCSE marks. It is a very narrow-minded view of life. Boss, its the lack of money that's the root cause of evil! Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value. –Albert Einstein.

This serves best as an illustration that a mediocre performance in national exams is not the end of the world. But, we should be careful not to applaud poor performance, raise it on a pedestal or assume that in general, failures make better entrepreneurs than eggheads based on just a handful of examples; for every C grad that employs 80 people, there are tens of thousands of other C graduates who lay about, jobless, drunk, without prospects, knifing and robbing people in alleys.... To bring this home, if you were a parent with a kid sitting KCSE, would you say something like 'son/daughter, I am happy if you manage a mere C, thats fine', even if you knew he or she can bag an A or a B if they put in effort?

Nobody says scoring A is key to everything in life. But acquiring knowledge is the best thing, there is a lot of basic understanding you get about things, than if you went to school and didn't bother, and just get a D.

Very well said/written. If your child is an A material, well, motivate them go ahead and score that A. If your other child is a C material, let them know that it doesnt mean they are a failure. They are most likely gifted in another area. Explore that other thing they are good at and follow through so that they score an A in that. Lord, thank you!
