Hi,
Im looking for a suitable, secure e commerce payment solution for the Kenyan market. It has to have MPESA and ZAP involved. But what are the costs of getting the accounts with the mobile networks? Kinda like a kenyan paypal.

pesapal has alot of details about things they do. I have even created an account with them and I have not seen an easy way of integration of the system with mine. Also, there is too much costs being cut from transactions

They run on ssl, thats true, but they are not secure. I speak from experience. Having an SSL certificate means nothing if u cant create secure pages.

If you are looking for an easy, secure payment gateway with the 'buy now' button feature for ease of other website integration, visit http://www.e-pesa.net. I have been using it for a while and I have to admit that the guys are efficient.

I wouldnt want to put a payment button on my site that takes you to a different site where you have to sign up to pay, thats not e-commerce, thats site hopping

E-pesa is a simple yet very effective payment system. Sign up for a FREE account and if you are a merchant, create a 'buy now' button from your account by generating HTML code, upload it to your website. When your website visitors click on the button to pay for your products/services, they are directed to the e-pesa system. For every successful purchase, you will be notified instantly and money credited to your e-pesa account. They only charge 5% commission for this service. You can thereafter withdraw your money via Mpesa, Zap, Bank Wire or PayPal. You can also deposit money from your PayPal account straight to your e-pesa account and withdraw using Mpesa, Zap or Bank wire. They normally pay within the hour after withdrawal, pretty fast and cheap way to send money from abroad. I recommend that you try this service.

What people fail to realise is that Kenyans dont want a system where you have to login in to another site to perform an action

@paultitude dont you have to log in with paypal create an account before you can buy from places like ebay. I think creating an account is inevitable you just have to log in to another site!!

I think you are looking for a direct debit/ credit card charging straight from your site. That will be hard cause my bank BBK the largest in kenya doesn't support online payment as of last year when i tried to check and make a payment.
As a kenyan i would prefer to log on to another site to make my payment than giving out my bank details to an online retailer. Provided the site is secure and the logging in procedures are not too long!
My suggestion to you is support the various payment solutions or alternatively support 1 and send your business there for a "better" deal.
