Kengen is already the biggest power producer in Kenya. Who would qualify to be the strategic investor... Kirubi, Merali, Transcentury, Total man? Kenyatta Family? Greedy when others are fearful. Very fearful when others are greedy - to paraphrase Warren Buffett

If at 3:1. Its more of an "IPO" than a rights issue The investor's chief problem - and even his worst enemy - is likely to be himself

Dont look past the venture cap groups i.e. Centum or Transcentury trying to diversify their portfolios. Look at it this way Kengen is a utility company the first of its kind and currently a monopoloy or it it an oligopoly one of the two at least. Utilities always do well ALWAYS . Let this be well lmanaged and the domino effect ring ching cha ching ching ching in our pockets

Now, which of those local heavyweights (feel free to add any other) has the capacity to pump about 729b into this thing in a period of 3yrs? The main purpose of the stock market is to make fools of as many people as possible.

Utilities often take on a lot of debt since their repayments are often 'guaranteed' since they provide an essential inelastic demand product. Therefore, they do not need the 729bn in Equity but just a portion. Greedy when others are fearful. Very fearful when others are greedy - to paraphrase Warren Buffett

Debt will do the heavy lifting but approximately what % of the total capital requirements is to be funded through equity... 100b? Even going by the 50b that is being bandied around it is still a tall order for any of our private developers. The main purpose of the stock market is to make fools of as many people as possible.

While we argue on the rights issue size here, somebody has been buying bucket loads of KenGen shares last couple of weeks. Today's volume was 5.76M (last Five years such volume high never seen for KenGen). This jumbo shares trading never show up on the bid/offer board.
I wonder what the jumbo shares buyer/seller knows?

Ericsson wrote:@guru267 6.6bn at 7.60 I highly doubt; KENGEN is looking at scaling down the number of shares to be issued to reduce the dilution and therefore price of the share post rights issue Who told you this? sounds like gossip to me.. Mark 12:29 Deuteronomy 4:16

When UK read out the 1T budget for the first time who though that KRA could raise anything close to that?

why can't they get approval then tell us there's a rights issue! its 2 years down the line, since it was first announced . The investor's chief problem - and even his worst enemy - is likely to be himself

These postponements and resulting share price swings are very welcome to us traders Good judgement is often the result of experience. Experience is often the result of bad judgement.
