Last week, Lamu Governor Issa Timamy demanded action against the policeman and questioned why he was being shielded.
The family has incurred a hospital bill of close to Sh2 million. The police commander in Mpeketoni used to be Officer Commanding Crime at Central Police Nairobi when met him, wasn't the brightest light bulb at the station, so I expect no miracles. Some people in Wazua think that security will be improved by additional legislation (those security laws and other gimmicks) without thinking about the people we have in police stations. Comprehensive police and security services reforms are urgently needed but the political class (whom we all support rabidly) does not care.
