The Board of Directors do not recommend payment of an interim dividend. Sad Sad

They should 'grease us' so that we ensure a successful rights. Sad Sad

why pay and beg at the same time?

The law of laundry at the NSE is Excellent results followed by Over subscribed rights (or Bond) and closely followed by a Profit Warning.

its always good to create a gradual sustainable profit growth for a couple of successive years, with this percentages, dont you smell a profit warning?

Kwani what did you expect, Kengen to commission a new power plant and sales to rise gradually? Call a spade a spade, good results are GOOD RESULTS !! Applause Applause

From the notes on the financial performance;the company is on gear to implement other Horizon II projects which include 350mw of geothermal projects comprising;
70MW Olkaria I Unit 6
140MW Olkaria V
140MW Olkaria VI
From the news they have been sharing Kengen is short by 8.2bn for funding of Olkaria I unit 6.This money they will get from borrowing and most likely JICA will give them the money.
The ksh.50bn rights issue money will be for implementing 140MW Olkaria V and 140MW Olkaria VI and the remaining balance for the project will be borrowing.
This company is doing an excellent job in the way they plan and manage their finances

what caused the tax credit?

The tax credit was from the commissioning of the 280MW plant!

Setting up plants in rural areas is worth big bucks

What % of the capital outlay do companies get as credit?

The good to great transformation. when you consider the other 140MW came in December there is much room for revenue growth in the full year results.

D&B Commentary:

Quote:

Our view

 We expect further increase in revenue for the second half of
2015 due to capacity and electricity revenue growth as a
result of increased energy sales.

 With increased urbanization and industrial growth, demand
for electricity is stable guaranteeing long-term revenue
earning capacity for the company.

 Plans to export electricity to Uganda and Rwanda in order to
meet the power deficit in the region creates new markets for
the electricity generated in Kenya.

Key Risks

 Increased debt ratios with the company’s plans to borrow
more in order to facilitate the implementation of 350MW
geothermal projects and 100MW wind projects. However,
the rights issue will cushion further deterioration of the debt
levels.

 Forex market risks as the dollar strengthens increasing
interest payments on loans from external financiers.

as shareholders we can DEMAND for some dividend or make sure we get a shilling so that we can take up the rights. But is it 15B or 50 B?

Dividends can only be paid with cash and not from profits. As at 31st Dec, they were 3.4B in the red. No cash here to afford an interim dividend. Refer to the cashflow statement.

Is the volume & price spike legit ( at the moment ), or is it a case of eager sheep being readied for slaughter ?
