Just wondering considering langata is full how viable is this business . How does it work in other countries I.e US . How hard would it be to get a license if one had like 100 acres near NBI freehold land

With the cost of land nowadays why would one even consider a private cemetery? Wouldn't make sense. Wouldn't even think about it!!!

100 acres near Nairobi!!?? If I had such a piece of land, there are a thousand possible things I would do with it and a private cemetery is not one of them!!!
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

In places like Nairobi where land is so expensive, one should always think along the line of maximum returns/ square foot. The closest that can get to your idea is building a high rise morgue but not a cemetery!

You're better off thinking of a cremation business.....

Not a bad idea esp on the Kajiado/Machakos county side where land has cheaper prices.

Have a mortuary there too. Then the headache will be how to package your product. Do you charge one-off or charge annual maintenance? What would you do if family defaults on annual maintenance? Exhume?

It's worth consideration. Esp when you consider additional services eg morgue, catering, chapel, cremation

By the way, do counties charge maintenance for permanent graves?

Kajiado was what I had I mind taking into ruiru sides have good soil depth but clearly land there is too expensive people would pay one-off charge

read somewhere some time back that a cemetery needs to have red soil, not near a river and not in close proximity to wild animals that would dig up bones.
your best cost effective bet would be to go for a crematorium fully equipped with shelf-like compartments for interring the cremains and where memorials can be conducted
