Orange to discontinue its CDMA service

I got a message from orange that they will switch off the CDMA service from 25th Feb and only use gsm service. Has anyone received the same.

This is bad news to me. I always use CDMA in places like Marsabit and Northern Frontier where there's no GSM signal.

very bad news. Only heard rumors about it but no official message as yet. Though I'm told they've stopped selling the EVDO modems.

So will they cease working!
Will customers holding them be issud with GSM versions or how will this be handled!

Got another message on my telkom wireless number again saying the switch off for CDMA network will be 26/02/14

Some 2 years ago I was buying their gsm modem and the sales lady proceeded to show me the areas on a map (in Nairobi) where the modem will work.Instead of going through with that nonsense I just opted to buy a CDMA one so if they're shutting down CDMA, they'd better shut down their internet business as well. Some places like their shop at Galleria don't have gsm network so if you buy a modem there and you insist they test it for you,utaambiwa mwende nje mtafute network.

Why would you switch the network with wider reach for one with very limited coverage , mind you their 3G is so limited even in Nairobi, no wonder they reported that they have lost control of the business in Kenya
