At current speeds and limits on nationwide HSPA coverage, Airtel is unlikely to shake Safaricom's dominance in data, sadly.

Please understand that Orange has two network technologies: HSPA, which is what most Kenyans generally mean when they say '3G' and CDMA/EVDO which Orange markets as 3G-Plus. The latter has a wider footprint countrywide and offers decent speeds at reasonable prices. Been on it consistently for well over a year now. The former however is only available in a few locations countrywide.

If there things that serious internet users hate it must be one of below;
1.A false promise of unlimited internet package whose speeds are cunningly throttled at such speeds like 256kbps or even 128kbps. This eventually becomes monkey business that ends up with irritated customers no matter how good/cheap your packages are.
2.Safaricom had tried their unlimited cyber package that was going for kes5k/month, what happened was congested data network on 3G platform, non profitable venture. They had to put a notice on the dailies that such unlimited package is discontinued.
3.The best unlimited internet package are the ones offered on fixed data, wimax and fiber. You sign up a link with the capacity that is suitable for your use and you enjoy unlimited use per month. The drawback for this is cost.smile

Data aside, 400 mins talk time for a thousand shillings is a bargain. That's 2.5bob per min across all networks!

For Sh50, subscribers will now get 100MB, 20 minutes of airtime and 100 SMS per day.

Another daily bundle for Sh100 entitles one to 300MB, 60 minutes, and 500 SMS.

A seven-day package is priced at Sh250 and allows up to 500MB, 100 minutes, and 500 SMS. A premium package for a similar period offers 1. GB, 300 minutes, and 2,500 SMS.

For Sh1,000, customers can use 2GB, 400 minutes, and 2,000 SMS within a month.

Another monthly bundle offers 6GB, 1,200 minutes, and 10,000 SMS for Sh2,000. Subscribers will get unlimited access to Whatsapp, Facebook, Gmail, Twitter and Instagram in all the bundles.

the best package is the one for monthly.Otherwise the one for 50 bob daily isnt real.I think the consumpution rate for MB's has been changed, since i dont see how 100MB can just evaporate that first. Also after 24 hours, the free minutes, free sms all vanish.

I seemingly get on well with the monthly orange unlimited 3g - pegged at 20gb (fair usage policy), although I would not consider myself a serious internet user.

The big questions are
1.Are the any deposits.
2.Does the bundle expire after 30 days or
is it carried forward.
3.Is it permanent ama itaisha after a few months?

4.Is the weekly bundle divided into daily allocations or can it all be consumed in one day?
5.Buy your UnlimiNet 50 for Ksh. 50, get your 100MB, as soon as that’s up, you can still surf the net, your social networks (Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, Instagram and Gmail). What about yahoo?
6.When you exhaust your voice minutes, what is the call rate?
7.HOW DOES ONE SUBSCRIBE???

8. Are the minutes usable across all networks or is it airtel to airtel only

Across all networks. For me that's the cue to take advantage. 400 mins @ 1000 is 2.5bob per min

Add 2000 text messages and this makes sense even if the 2GB data is takataka

This is Airtel positioning itself from the expected discontinuation of Safaricom's Karibu Postpay bundles 1000 and 2500 by end of March.
Safaricom is expected to revise the rates upwards, and what better deal than moving to Airtel bundle 1000 for a better package.

There is a difference in the offers. For Airtel it's pre-paid while for Scom it's post-paid>

No bad. Reminds me that our grumpy neighbour, Tz has Tigo giving 30gb data for 3 days at Tzs 1000 Usable between 11pm-5am in 2 NIGHTS!!!!

When do our networks plan to have such offers???? Tzs 1000 is about Ksh. 55 for heavens sake. I tried very hard exhausting those bundles and it was impossible.
