1. This is a poorly crafted law by Treasury technical. Review and fix.

2. On the other hand, for the stock brokers, what happened to using the courts if aggrieved? Seeking to force the hand of the state actors using threats is dishonest and unhelpful to the immediate investment climate. Make it 2 months if you may.

Let the systems play this out.

The one who launched StarTimes then opposed it or the one who called NSE investors drug barons? Leave politics out of this one.

Hope I'm wrong, but the mere fact that such action is being contemplated is bad for the market. The seed of uncertainty has been sown.

Doubt the govt can muster the cojones to spook this bear. Trading will resume tomorrow as most of the sharks are neck deep in the NSE. However, if am wrong a whole lot of folks will be royally screwed. Is it not enough that we have a clueless govt but also a hopeless opposition that cant check the former's excesses... trying to impose CGT as a tax at source with no guidelines and no consideration on the remitting party is laughable. That said, the seeds of discord in the NSE have been sown its now a question of how grave the consequences will be!!!
The main purpose of the stock market is to make fools of as many people as possible.

Funny thing is industry players started begging gava for rules and guidelines way back in September last year. They must have been busy looking for condoms for kids.

There are only two emotions in the stock market, fear and hope. The problem is, you hope when you should fear and fear when you should hope

Did you read why they want to go this way? The court has told them to wait for a month for a ruling. And it can be delayed even further. It's crazy in the Milimani court!

Luckily NSE doesn't have short selling. But the dice has been cast at yr highs on thin volume. Chills. Lose-lose scenario for mr market and taxman as confidence has been shaken. Holding value is now key. Anything else will be thrown under the bus. A shakeout looms...
