@HaMaina i shared a lot of information about the sugar sector on several MSC threads. I elaborated well how i have seen Miwani,Chemilil,Muhoroni among other millls brought to knees. Miwani was the first and largest with large tract of land... Nowadays it is reciever managers working there to pay "debtors" and themselves. Now cost of sugar production in kenya is between 3-4 times that of regional and world producers ;we can't compete favourably. Traders prefer imported one! ata wewe you want cheaper sugar. Dont forget COMESA issues. The company has Huuuge debt just like panpaper had. The western/Nyanza politicians are stupid much that they have NEVER known how to protect their industries..wameishia kwa siasa...on "uongozi" In short...for MSC to come up it needs to lower that cost of production by 50-75%(from about 46k to about 17k),how possible is it? Therefore in my opinion i said that MSC will be fluctuating from down upto 3.75/- . kupita hapo ni tall order just like neveready. so you can make/loose money in those brackests. In fact the price recoveries are purely speculative hakuna biashara hapo imeleta pesa. Deciscion ni yako.

I agree with most of what you are saying, but in my view it would be completely unethical not to say nonsensical to destroy a peoples main source of income and expect peace. They (meaning moi & the clowns who licked his rear end) tried it with coffee & tea and the result was a whole lot of crime and desperation in central province. If they don't do something about it sooner or later they shall be dealing with angry armed people with nothing to loose.

That's possible but we shall know for sure either next week or the week after. As for now all we are doing is speculating, na kujiingiza baridi kwa tumbi. Relax and go have a cold one.

Last week, there was a scare when news spread that Barclays Bank had decided to break ranks with the rest of the lenders to unilaterally put the company under receivership.

Were it not for the quick intervention of the remaining eight members of the syndicate, followed by the move by the government to immediately announce the Sh500 million bailout Mumias would now be under receivership.

Quote:
So far, the total outstanding debt owed to KCB is Sh1.6 billion, while Proparco is owed Sh1.5 billion in outstanding facilities.

Other lenders the company owes large outstanding debts are Bank of Africa (Sh715m), Commercial Bank of Africa (Sh286m), Ecobank (Sh392m), CFC Stanbic (Sh305m), Barclays Bank (Sh286m), the Sugar Directorate (Sh884m) and Co-operative Bank of Kenya (Sh43m).

Mumias has been defaulting on both principal and interest payments except for KCB. Outstanding interest payable at December last year was Sh170 million

They are in it because, by the rule of thumb, maximum gains go hand-in-hand with greatest risks.
