can one share the digital set top boxes signals, say to about 20 rooms? will the recipients be able to receive all the channels?

You can if you have the antennae correctly positioned and minimize all cable losses by using the right materials and professional technician.

If you are able to, no assumptions withstanding, get a TV with inbuilt digital receiver. Utapata Bamba, Signet and Pang.

This wont work unless you wanna watch shady stations.I have an inbuilt digital tv,gets most signals including BAMBA....but they said once they go live I have to get a Bamba box.I have a feeling NTV,KTN & CIT will have a box of their own too....so you will be left to watch akina Unjiru TV & Three Stones if you dont buy a box.

You have no idea how true your statement was/is:

Quote:
The enhanced set top boxes will be provided by Nation Media Group (NMG), Standard Group (SG) and Royal Media Services (RMS) in the first phase of a plan that will see them import a million more devices by the end of March, 2015.

Speaking during a media workshop at Nairobi Serena Hotel, Mr Wilfred Kiboro, the NMG chairman, said the gadgets will be sold at a one-off price that will not exceed Sh2,500 so that a majority of Kenyans can buy them.

So there you go....basically there will be no benefits from digital TV apart from clarity thanks to the big three.
They will simply ensure no other channel is broadcast on their box. Thus smaller guys have no chance! You will be left with a choice between NTV,CIT & KTN...just as it was before!Sad

The future of digital TV is vernacular TV stations whoever gets it right in this segment gets the AD revenue.Unless the 3 big boys have some form of agreement about adding channels on that platform one of them is bound to get greedy hapo ndio mvurutano itaanza

How much is it to start a new TV station?

I hear it's much cheaper than analogue days.

Like someone said earlier, content is king. With digital migration, you'll choose the one which gives you better content. The three aren't guaranteed of viewership with the same content.
