@ Maich, the point is that when Madrid set their sights on De Gea (and they will), he'll answer the call.

The script should therefore be pretty simple.....tie the boy to an irresistible long term bumper contract complete with an obscene buy-out clause.

He'll be made the best paid keeper in the world. That will raise the stakes higher and if Real want him, they'll have to cough up some good cash, like they did with CR7. Like MB said, he's not a United target and United has only sold one player to Real when the player wanted it. Hao wengine were dispossed off; Beckham, Van Nistelrooy, Gabriel Heinze, Chicharito (though hii ni loan).

Buy-out clause is a double edged sword because it comes with a hefty end of contract payment.
Keepers earn relatively low wages and very few get GBP100K pw. A good team can thrive with an average keeper. Liverpool won CL with Dudek in goal and Brazil have never had a classy goalie.

In short what we are saying is that in pro soccer, it all boils down to money. Emotions count for very little, if in doubt ask Fabregas.

When it became clear that the mighty Man U were to miss out on CL league football this season, most pundits (what in Wazua politics section are called hyenas or team Mafisi) predicted that Man U won't attract any world class player. That was comprehensively demystified without much struggle. Don't ever discount the power of money in professional soccer.

Last time I checked any player with class think Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Platini,Ronaldinho,Hugo Sanchez, Hristo Stoichov, Romario, Bebeto, Figo et al played for the five teams; The Milan clubs, Juventus, Barca, RM, including the great Maradona with the exception of Pele. It is a fact that any world class player wants to play for these clubs.

De Gea will eventually end up at Real Madrid, it might not necessarily be next season or the one after but it will happen. Man Utd will definitely offer him a bumper contract extension which will probably be signed by De Gea but that will just delay the inevitable and will not stop Real from pursuing him. Right now they need a quality Keeper to succeed Casillas and the Man Utd Keeper is the best candidate.

@Mwenza....CR7's move to Real was not as pleasant as you would like us to believe, Man Utd even filed a tampering complaint with FIFA over Madrid's alleged pursuit, but FIFA declined to take any action....Blatter would later on "describe the situation as modern slavery, comments Ronaldo agreed with".

Btw the decision to stay for one more year was CR7's, its actually Carlos Quieroz who convinced SAF to let him leave. I hope you recall these comments from SAF "Do you think I would enter into a contract with that mob? Absolutely no chance. I would not sell them a virus".

Which star has Manutd attracted? Valdez? Falcao with a dodgy knee?
We all know that De Maria's choice was PSG.

I'm not sure the Milan clubs retain the same appeal. Kuwa mpole and do your research again.
