your car was damaged on the bumper and headlight? does not look like a big accident or rather great damage.

1. what's the cost of the damage according to your garage and how much excess are you to pay to the insurance?

** sometimes it's wise not to claim if the excess is too high and the damage is somehow less. another issue is that insurance companies are rather slow and your car may end in the garage for a month! you take your car to the garage, they charge you X amount. the insurance sends an assesor who files a report with your insurance company. maybe the insurance will start complaining that the garage is too expensive and the blame game and delays begin. my point is,if the cost of repair is not high, write a statement with cops, just use your own cash, keep the receipts and then look for the road rage nutter!

@Alfa - 1- go and do a search at times towers - it costs abt 500 bopb and takes a few hours - that search will give you the current owner's name and postal address. Furnish your insurer with that and the cops as well. BTW you need to report all accidents at least in 24 hours - whether you caused it or not. If 24 hrs have elapsed...hmmm...

2 - Check around with a few insurers - you can covertly call the top 5 insurers and say you want to renew your cover, say you cant get the policy number right now since the car is out with the driver, but can give the car number - typically the person on phone, after doing the search will go 'er,Mr John Onyango Kamau?'...you go like 'hmmm, maybe. Its a family car and blah blah, etc'.

The problem with equality is that we desire that it be with those that have more than us rather that those that have less

Getting to know the owner is easy through KRA. Knowing the insurance company is hard since there is no central database. Why can't KRA/NTSA require insurance companies to share information on the insured for compliance purposes?
