what needs to happen is that KRA needs to review its tax protocols for used cars and KEBS should do away with the eight year rule and introduce a three year rule, this will reduce road accident fatalities significantly
Ditto ^^. However, even that 7/3-yr rule shouldn't be there! Why can't we have manufacturers making their cars here? Why import? Capital flight!
I'd much rather we have Chinese making imitations locally than what we are... a dumping ground.
And what happened to the no-trucks/buses-at-night law?
Now we are making excuses...running away from the reality.
@vky, I do no understnd what you mean (the text in red above).
Gordon Gekko wrote:@D32, how would a roll cage have helped in this situation? The guy drove under a truck and the car was sheared, quite similar to Jules Bianchi in the Japanese Grand Prix who by the way had a roll cage.....Roll cages mitigate what the name suggests, rolls to prevent collapsing roofs. He would probably have had a better chance if he had side airbags. RIP.
To be technically correct, I would not call what is found with the F1 a roll cage, instead, call it a "roll bar".
E.g.

Or this for pick-up's

The F1 rollbar is blended with the air intake.

While the F1 driver can be protected from rolls, the driver is exposed from the front.

Below are examples of a roll cage.

I cannot say that a roll cage will guarantee no loss of life, rather, I'm saying that a roll cage will greatly help prevent the loss of life by the manner in which the occupants are protected. I also mentioned the use of a helmet.
They tried to bury us, they didn't know we were seeds.
