Where exactly are these Malili Ranchers?

Some deals are like glass. Sometimes it's better to leave them broken than try to hurt yourself putting it back together.

Anyone with info on where exactly the land is situated?

Someone has just told me that Malili ranches is near Machakos junction around 50km from NBO and past a place called Chumvi. If so that is not Athi-river but Machakos. I understand the ranch is owned by a whiteman.

malili is about 20-30km from Makutano ( junction to Machakos) after Konza ranch

The ranch used to belong to many shareholders who were keeping livestock

i think they disagreed or something and the ranch was to be subdivided ( not sure if that happened)

Anyway someone is checking for me if there is land up for sale around there

Would have wished they acquired land in kitengela. I just bot 2 acres at 120,000 per acre near where NIST wants to build a university ( 10 km from kitengela town)

Better days are ahead

NIST stands for what please.

This is coz after Kitengela town on your way to Isinya,Kampala International University acquired land and premises (from the -can't remember name-former girls sec school) which is approximately 40km from NCBD.

The value around the place is about 200k to 350k for 50by 100 depending on who is selling.and this is from 3rd plots almost touching the kajiando road.
I got 3 plots and had done enough window shopping and couldnt get with less amount.

Malili Ranch is between Salama trading centre(near Kiima Kiu) along mombasa Highway and the Machakos turnoff (junction) where (H.E .President Kibaki had an accident ). As you approach salama Market, there is an inverted 'V' shaped hill, that is Malili hill which adjoins Kiima Kiu hill. A brand new shopping center which will be the divisional head quarters for new malili division is coming up in the area.

About 70km from Nairobi along Msa highway .The Ranch was owned by Whiteman who used the place for cattle rearing. It was then relinguished to Africans who bought it as cooperative society. In the past 5 years the land has been subdivided according to the number of shares one held and ballots have been done. People have now settled the area.

The place was very well managed under the whiteman management but small scale farming in the area may not be economically viable.

The area is served with water from mt Kilimanjaro, though its reliabity is a story for another day since the water is diverted to flower farms.

what the papers are saying is true, the ranch was subdivided two years ago into 7.8 acres plot and 50 x 100 plot in the proposed town per member, the govt will only take 5000 acres, the area is sparsely settled no parmanent structures yet . the price of 200k per acre is very attractive,i am told those who want to keep their land will be allowed to swap with other members of the ranch.
we are very happy about it

70Kms from Nairobi sounds like some drive.

But I guess it spreads the wealth

yesterday i spoke to two people who work in the min of information and they told me that the land purchase has not gone through and the only thing is that the bids may have been opened. How big is Malili Ranch? I was there yesterday and found out that the members were selling the land to individuals and quite a bit has been sold already. The member who wanted to sell to me was not aware that the government was buying land there.
