I met Ben Chumo last year. He's a very switched on guy. Let's hope he can deliver and I hope political interference will be reduced this time.

BBI will solve it

KENYA Power has forecast a Sh15 billion pre-tax profit in the 2014/2015 financial year, which would give shareholders the highest return since the company’s establishment 22 years ago. The forecast is based on good performance by the power retailer in the last two fiscal years. “Our profit has been rising because we are getting more customers and electricity supply has become more reliable. I will not be surprised if we make Sh15 billion at the end of this financial year,” managing director Ben Chumo told the Star in a telephone interview.

Kenya Power has signed a Sh445 million deal with a consortium of a Chinese electrical firm and an engineering unit of Singapore’s government for the laying of electricity lines in five key towns across the country.

Kenya Power has entered into an agreement to sell 30MW of power to Rwanda in July 2015.

The sale will boost Rwanda's supply that is hampered by generation capacity shortage, MD and CEO Ben Chumo said on Tuesday.

I completed my buying sometimes around September (At 14/=) but last week I saw a trade done at 13/= and was considering jumping back in.

I am loading up on select stocks when I get some cash. Some of these stocks will make a very happy man in years to come. Take Kenya power for example. Look at the earnings per share. Cheaper power (geothermal being added to the grid). Higher sales (people using more power because it is cheaper, more connections - rural electrification, street lighting, exporting power - starting with Rwanda, probably more industrial production going forward with cheaper more stable power etc.).

Once Kenya power is done with capital investments and with higher profits, how much do you think they will be paying as dividends? How much do you think the share will be going for at that time?? Tafakari hayo.

But this is for long timers like yours truly.
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.
