Not sure which lane this truck was on but on a highway like Thika Road when driving at night, the middle lane usually carries a lower risk of stalled vehicles. So many stalled cars don't place the lifesavers at all or when they do its right next to the vehicle. I'm sure there are plenty of near misses every week if not daily.
All my friends are heathens, take it slow. Wait for them to ask you who you know. Please don't make any sudden moves.

And the owner and driver of the stalled truck? In the west they would be facing a long stint in prison for manslaughter. There are too many fatalities by cars ramming into stalled trucks in Kenya. !

Very true. I don't even understand how such vehicles and that ones that carry trash from estates pass the government inspection.

I have never heard of owners of these trucks or owners of collapsed buildings being prosecuted even at least for negligence.

BBI will solve it

The Langata road one is still fresh on my mind, drove past it and the bodies were still in the wreck, badly mutilated.
When its not fatalities, they cause ugly and expensive gridlocks when they stall on strategic roads like Mbagathi way or the causeway to Mombasa island!
Time to do something very drastic so that owners of stalled trucks move heaven on earth to chuck them from the road before jail or tens of thousands of fines come calling!

AGREED!!!Applause Applause Applause

Is there cause to sue the driver and owner of the truck for manslaughter resulting from negligence? Would set a precedent for all other cases. Shida ni autopsy reveals high alcohol levels etc. But it is a fact that stalled trucks have killed very many people...and will continue to do so...

Looking at the damage on that car...i just think the departed has the biggest share of blame here. He must have been driving at murderous speed.
If the accident happened late at night as alluded, he had more than one lane to maneouvre to (sp) given the light traffic at that hour.

ION Where is @ Bigchick?

I have been a victim and as late as two Sundays back,i witnessed a similar incidence along Eldoret-Malaba highway. What came to mind then and what happens in some countries,an authority is tasked with clearing those kind of hazards as soon as they happen. This can be done at a cost to the truck/car owner if only to spare lives.Over to you Lee Kinyanjui at NTSA.
Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.
