@guru - The P/E for Co-op would only be cheap if the profits rise substantially... I am comparing KCB to Co-op & I find KCB has a lower PE (10-12)

@VVS i was meaning that with a P/E of 12 it still looks kind of cheap because of projected rise in profits and projected come back of Wanjiku to the NSE.. this stock has plenty of foreign interest

Maybe... but I am going to wait for 2009 results for the banks (incl Co-op) before I make my move. I would buy if the price fell to 9/- (ceteris paribus)...

I like KCB coz of its diversification into East & Central Africa yet has a decent P/E at the moment...

@VVS i agree about KCB when it comes to fundamentals but in terms of share price it loves to stagnate around where its now... i got into it in september and its really underperformed the market and my portfolio so i just sold and dove into kenya re...

if ur really interested in KCB i hope u go in for 1 or 2 years bcos thats when i see returns...

If I get decent returns on KCB - if the profits can increase 10-15% annually - I am OK with the current price of KCB...

I expect (hope?) KCB has a good 2010... & a spectacular 2011...

In 2010, KCB needs to sort out the nagging 'bad' loans including Triton, Uchumi, Pan Paper... & ensure they monitor the other loans closely as well...

I think the Triton & Uchumi loans will be dealt with in 2010...

@muganda, if there is a share that still has more upside on the NSE, it should be Kenol...when foreigners resume buyside i expect further appreciation on KenolKobil, Kenya-Re and by bouyed locals HFCK and Sasini.

@guru - I have NO idea when KCB will hit 30/-... otherwise I would be a billionaire!!!

S&L was a 100% owned subsidiary of KCB... so the merger announcement was a mere formality...
