On the negative side I think the capital gains tax is going to wipe out this small marginal gains on equities completely because the minimum tax plus other commissions could be as high as 7% plus "Don't let the fear of losing be greater than the excitement of winning."

Fundamentally no cause for worry. Its just a post split hangover like others which have been down that path. The main purpose of the stock market is to make fools of as many people as possible.
