Mlolongo is one of the busiest towns around. Though relatively small, the town has grown very fast recently with many factories in the vicinity, settlements (low and medium income) and Accomodation facilities catering for the Road haulage business from Mombasa.

Am shocked that none of the banks have found it worthwhile to put up branch there..hata kina Equity

There is a lot of cash changing hands in Mlolongo daily

Equity is already putting up a branch there soon. I think an ATM is already serving "members"

Was also thinking the same. Have some family interests in Mlolongo, but have always wondered why there is no bank there! Its developing fast, but some planning needed...

Safety and infrastructure count... Cash being moved around...

Also... banks need to be linked so the question is... is there fibre in Mlolongo?

@vvs

as much as i agree with you on issue of linkage i don't think it counts in this one...after all it's not far away from athi river and kitengela..

there must be other factors...

...BankS usually copy each other like fools. At one point there was no single bank in Nairobi West. Then Cooperative opened an ATM there. The rest of the banks followed. As soon as one bank establishes itself in Mlolongo, others will follw. There is already a KCB ATM at hotel Connection...

Without 4getting what happened 2 buildings on road reserve there, many structures in mlolongo don't have titles n all banks fear risks. At least i know a bank that got discouraged coz it cud'nt do a lease on an untitled property, just 1 of the reasons. But u'll c several of them thea soon!!

Like Veteran said, banks copy each other, but there must be a reason why they are all staying away. Not sure about the security, but a couple of them are planning to put up ATMs there, to test the waters. Most figure out that Athi River & Kitengela are close enough for customers from Mlolongo. Issues to consider:-cost of CAPEX, Security, Nature of business,(bars dont count much), economic growth...etc. So I guess we watch the space.....

What do you mean ati fibre. The fibre runs along Mombasa road and its just a question of terminating it to serve he branches in Mlolongo

.
.
The main reason tis that most of them houses don hav a title deed, plus as usual, to minimise risk, they are waitin 4 one of them to enter the market and check if thea is busines. In kitengela, thea was kcb en equity, now kuna coop[ athi river aina bidii], faulu, transnational, dtb, family, kwft_al were opened last yr...aparently, barclays din get a premise, thats wat i hear...we have equity atm, thats a gud sign..

Are you serious???
You think access to fibre means you stick a plug in?
There are costs to extending the fibre from every node. Unless there is sufficient (or perceived) demand or it is subsidised, no-one is going to 'terminate' the connection there...

It's not ati, unachimba shimo & u install fibre!
