@murchr was also wondering whether the new Director of Immigration would provide solutions at the borders in regards to sugar too?
We need efficiencies not protectionism. Why should we pay 2x world prices for sugar?

Well, the article seeks to satisfy that GoK is exiting to allow 'able' private sector. Then you can have peace of mind. Probably buy shares too. Apologies then.

@urstill1 Doing what exactly?

The crux is that what Finance CS is saying in that article is directly linked to step number 3 of the script - Improving competitiveness in the sector.

Protectionism goes all the way to subsidizing or forcing private firms to pay uncompetitive prices to inefficient farmers for cane. KUSCOL [from the website] have chosen to establish a large nucleus estate instead of (primary) reliance on out-growers.

The guy knows the share will be one day at 3 bob.

He will nearly double his money.

The theory goes like, its easier to double one bob than to double 100 bob

Any mumias lender must be calculating how much what is left is worth as at now.

Some amazing facts on MSC after the interview with one respected Mr.Otolo MD mumias courtesy of NTV news.

1.Mumias will take approx 18 months to return to profitability after the bail out.

2.Mumias owes 6 financial institution 6.5Bn which they are unableble to service at the moment.

3.They plan to renegotiate the repayments by either:
a)restructuring the loan repayments to longterm ones
b)negotiating for an year waiver on repayments.

4.MSC is requesting GOK for a 2.5bn bail out,no response from GOK,though there are good signs (aka "we are certain but not sure" #chef).

5.They have resumed production to full throstle.

as heard to the best of my ears..

When was the interview? Link?

BTW, what does a 'bailout' mean? Does that mean the GoK cash into Mumias wipes out the existing shareholders' equity?

Loans from CBA and Eco Bank to build the 5B ethanol plant. That is where the problem started.

6.5 billion! unserviceable loans. these gava firms will never cease to amaze. let them rebuild so that others can pull it down again in future.

Applause Applause Applause You nailed it. The 1 to 2 theory is for speculators but this only works if you can buy cheap & sell expensive... In other words, find a goat to chinja instead of being chinja'd
