My colleugue has sold his imposing 4 bedroom massionnette in kitengela and is buying a flat in south c citing 3 house breaks in less than 2 years since he moved. We know everywhere in Nairobi crime like jacking and robberies either on the road or gate are common but this guys is scared because kitengela these guys drill the stone fence so electric fence doesnt scare them and then take hours to gain access into the house knowingvery well you are inside the house. That doesnt happen everywhere in nairobi. Is this crime issue exxagerated or its this bad read the other day flying squad officcers will soon move there

Unless such crime is brought under control, the future is in high rise apartments. Some of the wealthiest people in the world (even in Kenya to some extent if you think about the Asian community) live in apartments.

They are prone to petty theft but you have to be really ballsy to forcefully drill through an apartment like that unless it is in a remote area. I foresee a good number of middle/upper Nairobians moving from suburbia into apartments especially as they get older. 30+ floor residential towers will start popping up closer to the city to accommodate this demand.
