@IDP Using the eight year rule, it falls within the allowed period.The month is also critical in the sense that it will attract some 65k for every year that is less than 8 years.So in your case assuming the month of manufacture is April and we are in Feb, then prepare at least some 130k in penalties over and above the normal duty.
On whether to buy the car, ave seen some vehicles with a mileage of 130k and over 200k that are well maintained and far much better than one of 80k.Its a subject of conjecture, but my observation is that after some 100k most of the Japanese vehicles have most of the parts replaced and probably you could benefit from this.But I dont rule out luck in most of the imports as even a 50k car can have an engine "knock".
