@BGL, over to you.

UNAITAS is a solid rock. Just look at their financials for last year and subsequent years.

Regarding share ownership: Just walk into ANY of their branches (Nairobi city has two) and request for a printout.

Cheers @BGL.

I thought about it this way, when am contributing to a SACCO monthly, I only get to gain dividends and increase the amount I can borrow. With UNAITAS I can do both only with an upside of selling later at a profit, not counting bonus shares etc

Look at their financials performance over the last 3 years. The numbers just keep going up.

@stract_consult, whiteowl, are they locking out new members on attaining 1.8Bn core capital or they'll are likely to recruit upto at least end of the year?

I'm expecting some bonus in Dec.

Hi Jerry not sure about their exact strategy on this. Probably send a query to them?

The official stand is that they'll lock out people after reaching 1.8B but I'm thinking they can extend it to 2 or 2.3B. Either way that wouldn't make much of a difference considering the speed at which guys are buying the shares. They moved from 800M in Dec/Jan to 1.3B in May so they can hit their target anytime from now.

Thanks @whiteowl. Your sentiments confirms that there may have been no change in the "official position" since May See more in the article below:

The shares are not yet issued. they will be when the offer closes around Jan 2015. The amount invested by then will be converted to shares at 10.00 each.

A strategic plan exists on paper and it's just that. A plan! We have been waiting for UAP to list for sometime now. But you can be sure for UNAITAS the dividends will almost always be "sweet" whether they list or not.

This is not a hard sell... Its an impossible sell! Currently shares are not transferrable or assignable as collateral..

The only returns on the stock are the 7-10% annual dividend yields.

This one is only for the patient!

I thought I saw a case of the dividends being issued on a prorated basis depending on the time you purchased your shares.Correct me

Most SACCOs calculate dividends on monthly balances to avoid cheeky behaviour like @Gatoho's.

You stand corrected. Year in yr out, I always get 9percent of 31st Dec holding.

@guru, you can sell the shares but at a loss mostly around 7bob having bought the same at 10bob.
The main purpose of the stock market is to make fools of as many people as possible.
