This will go down as a case study in PR management classes for a long time.

“@bharatthakrar spoken to the CEO, his message is that our team is enjoying #MashujaaDay today; putting families first, but a technical rep.”

“@bharatthakrar will be in touch to discuss one-to-one your outburst here & what can be done. For today; have a cold tusker & enjoy the day.”

Car was bought at CMC. Guy raised issue on public holiday copying Landrover SA, on social media provoking use of word 'outburst' from RMA.

Scangroup has many issues too. How would they respond if their linen was aired in the public, when you're not fully to blame? Many people/organisations would be miffed and defensive.

My take is this. The Scanad guy called them to come pick his car on a holiday. They told him no staff is available until the following day. Now him being a 'big big somebody' in Kenya... thought.. 'oooh no they didn't'! Not to me! How could they? Then to get back at them decided to use social media.

If a customer who spent 30m could be wished away like this, I wonder how me a toyo guy would be treated.smile

So are you implying that if he wants to bankat midnight, the banks should open wake up staff to go and serve him?

There is a reason some days are called weekdays, public holidays and weekends and the reason why we have working hours!!

@Washiku, people with that kind of money to splash on cars get personal attention, they need not run to twitter to rant, ama ni gari ya Kampuni!!!

His rants are genuine. These local dealers are only good at bringing in the new cars. Their service is shit. Their mechanics are a pile of cow dug. They know nothing about the cars they sell. A small problem that will get fixed by a jua kali mechanic in a day will take weeks to be fixed by those mechanics. And when your car leaves their garage it has ither ailments that were not there. I have had a very bad experience with one big compaby I will not name.

Whether or not the ScanAd guy was wrong, the way RMA handled this has surely not won them any fans.

I would feel quite cheated if my KShs 30m vehicle is always in the garage. I would be thinking that maybe a Toyota VX may be a better deal for peace of mind.

I have always wondered why guys go for this troublesome vehicle anyway.

You are damn right..I took my 2013 Rav4 for minor body repair at TK & it came with more body dents..called them & gave them a lecturer. Even fixing straight forward mechanical issues like suspension is a problem to some of their mechanics.

RMA may not have acted well in their response but then again why would Tharkar choose to air his frustration through social media? Why dis he want to drag twitter followers into the discussion. He was playing to the gallery.
Even the businessmen in this forum you will agree that is not the way to air a grievance.
Me thinks there is more to it than meets the eye. Both are of Asian origin so vita zao hatujui.
As the the RMA guy said ..guys with money to buy such a car are rarely loud.

That was a legitimate concern. Suppose it was you you want to travel to Alego Usoga but you cant because your 30m car is not okay and has always been to the garage. Of course somebody else must have been taking the car there and handling issues for the owner. Now on that day you wake up from the bad side of your bed and feel how frustrated you are... kila mtu anahitaji haki yake and thst showd how human beings are the same. Money cant make him not toexpress his frustrations. i support him for showing these dealers what they are. Useless people whose stock-in-trade milking customers and providing crappy service.
