How many can relate to this? Quote:If you’re a black person who has ever visited a place where there aren’t many other black people, then you will be familiar with The Nod. The Nod is just that: An almost imperceptible lowering of the head toward any other black person you might encounter on your travels through, say, Slovakia or Russia.
Yet The Nod is also so much more than that: It’s a swift yet intimate statement of ethnic solidarity. The Nod is saying, “Wow, well, I really didn’t expect to see another one of us out here, but you seem to be doing your thing just fine. More power to you, and all the very best.”
The Nod is something that several white friends of mine often find bewildering. A few years ago, as I walked down a street in Italy with a friend, a black man looked at me and gave a small, stern bow before making his way off. “Who was that?” my friend asked. “Did you know him?”
Her incredulous expression made it seem as if I was part of some mysterious cabal. I can! I have given and received 'The Nod' one too many times. All Mushrooms are edible! Some Mushroom are only edible ONCE!

Yep! I have received the Nod (I live in the US). Surprisingly, I get it from men and not from other women.

Strangely it doesn't matter if you're African American, Congolese, young or old or whatever so long as you're black you get it! “People will believe a big lie sooner than a little one, and if you repeat it frequently enough, people will sooner or later believe it.” ― Walter C. I must confess it has left me bewildered too but heck! "There are only two emotions in the market, hope & fear. Actually i have seen many of these and i always respond . I call it african solidarity. It happens even to jungui had come with my other half sometimes back and i told her ill not take you to places you will see your bros and sisters. While walking near the uchumi on mbs rd pale southB we saw a white sister and she did the nod i was like you see even you guys do it while away from your own. On another note i know of kenyans in Frankfurt they wait at the metro exit pale juu ukishamaliza escalator. Their job is to ask "wewe mkenya" of course when you look at them they know you are one

Most of you have missed the point by a mile! The nod, mostly used by African Americans, is a way of showing brotherhood and acceptance in a society that has continously rejected and degraded them. After a long day of dealing with racism, both overt and covert, that nod is usually a gesture of togetherness, of defiance against a society that constantly tells you you are inferior. You wouldnt get it until you walked a mile in an AA's shoes.

Enyewe I've also nodded. But in some towns such as Worchester MA and Lowell, MA, you nod because you happen to be the only nigger who can't speak kyuk. Jose: If I make it through this thug life, I'll see you one day. The Lord is the only way to stop the hurt.
