Haiiiiya! My neighbour, a single mum wants to take her son for circumcision over the coming holidays. By herself! Single mums raising sons, please find a trusted male 'uncle' for your sons and most preferably not your current boyfriend. His biological father would be perfect if it is the two of you who kosanad but he still loves the kids. I heard that by 2030, over 50% of young adults between 19-24 yrs will have been raised in single mother homes. I personally think that will not be good for our society and the boys especially. I know there're many dead beats but there're also those who made the decision to beat the biological clock. BBI will solve it :)

Luckily, single mothers still have decent men like us who offer a shoulder to lean on If Obiero did it, Who Am I?

That's why the boys of today have become what they have become. And then people pretend to give them 'wedding shower', for well wishes for future home. That would not help if the man has not been prepared well for man-hood... As @2012 suggests, the uncles or the biological father will act as a mentor for thew boy as he physically and symbolically crosses from childhood to manhood.

Circumcision is a complex cultural transitional ritual of which the cut is just but evidence or a mark that you have undergone the ritual. That is why during the ritual individuals are isolated for some time and transitioned physically (the cut), mentally and emotionally (via lectures by elders), so that they can become responsible members of the community. Therefore it's utter nonsense for you to suggest that a mother hires a taxi and takes the boy for "a minor surgery" since the boy will only end up "cut" but not circumcised. FYI women are never involved in male circumcision matters apart from cooking for the initiates.
